Structural and Rheological Properties of Chitosan‐Biochar Composites Prepared With Waste Biomass‐Derived Biochar

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Chitosan dispersions containing biochar derived from vine pruning residue showed increasing shear stress and improved thermal stability with loading. Flow behavior was described by the Bingham plastic model in all cases. These results support the valorization of agricultural waste in functional biopolymer formulations.

A Simple Rheology‐Based Framework for Selecting Printing Parameters in Extrusion‐Based Hydrogel Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
An open analytical framework converts standard rheological measurements directly into the complete extrusion field and slicer‐ready printing parameters for Piston driven printers, enabling rapid operational window of printability in direct ink writing without CFD or machine learning. ABSTRACT Predicting whether a gel formulation will print successfully

Toward a theory of Bayesian experimentation in early‐stage ventures

open access: yesStrategic Entrepreneurship Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary The entrepreneurship literature has established the benefits of experimentation but has paid comparatively little attention to its costs. We develop a Bayesian model to illustrate the entrepreneurial choice between direct and experimental entry.

High‐Performance Self‐Powered Perovskite Photodiodes for Blue‐Light Detection Using Anisole‐Assisted Precursor Engineering

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Anisole‐assisted precursor engineering provides a simple route to high‐quality perovskite films for self‐powered blue‐light photodetection. Anisole promotes grain growth and suppresses pinholes, reducing dark current while improving external quantum efficiency and detectivity.

Distributed Learning with Sublinear Communication

open access: yesCoRR, 2019
In distributed statistical learning, $N$ samples are split across $m$ machines and a learner wishes to use minimal communication to learn as well as if the examples were on a single machine. This model has received substantial interest in machine learning due to its scalability and potential for parallel speedup.

Sublinear Secure Computation from New Assumptions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Secure computation enables mutually distrusting parties to jointly compute a function on their secret inputs, while revealing nothing beyond the function output.

Anomalous Sub‐Band Gap Emission at Room Temperature in Mixed‐Dimensional WS2/Cu2O Heterostructures

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Monolayer WS2 on Cu2O produces a room‐temperature sub‐bandgap emission from the hybrid interface. Spectroscopy and electrical bias measurements indicate that this emission arises primarily from WS2‐modified Cu2O defect states rather than interlayer excitons.

Mixed‐Dimensional Epitaxy of Aligned 1D vdW Nanowires on Low‐Symmetry 2D vdW Materials: Sb2X3 on ReX2 (X = S, Se)

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Highly aligned mixed‐dimensional vdW heterostructures are achieved through vdW epitaxy of 1D Sb2X3 (X = S, Se) nanowires on low‐symmetry 2D substrates (e.g. ReX2). Reduced substrate symmetry enables aligned nanowire growth and well‐defined vdW interfaces. Atomic‐scale characterization reveals specific epitaxial relationships and stacking‐fault defects.

Existence of solutions for sublinear equations on exterior domains

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2017
In this article we prove the existence of an infinite number of radial solutions of $\Delta u + K(r)f(u)= 0$, one with exactly n zeros for each nonnegative integer n on the exterior of the ball of radius R>0, $B_{R}$, centered at the origin in ...
