SUBMANDIBULAR GLAND TUMORS

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1978
Tumors involving the submandibular gland are rare. However, the incidence of malignancy is much higher than in the parotid (approaching 50 percent). In addition, the 5-year survival rate in patients with malignant tumors of the submandibular gland is much poorer in our series--28 percent versus 71.8 percent for the parotid gland.

Basket Submandibular Gland Suspension

Submandibular Gland Sialoangiography

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1969
AN IMPROVED technique of submandibular sialoangiography is presented. This method gives a more complete visualization of the submandibular gland duct system, allowing better evaluation of pathologic conditions of the gland. Although parotid sialoangiography is widely used, and results are commonly reported, survey of the literature reveals a paucity of

Autoradiograms of sections through the submandibular gland were prepared, and the location of labelled cells in relationship to tubuli and acini was recorded.

Submandibular Ectopic Thyroid Gland

Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1996
A 45-year-old euthyroid woman had symmetric submandlbular masses. Radionuclide imaging with Tc-99m pertechnetate will hide the presence of ectopic thyroid tissue because of the physiologic radionuclide uptake by the salivary glands, whereas a study using radioactive iodine allows a correct diagnosis.
