Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1978
Tumors involving the submandibular gland are rare. However, the incidence of malignancy is much higher than in the parotid (approaching 50 percent). In addition, the 5-year survival rate in patients with malignant tumors of the submandibular gland is much poorer in our series--28 percent versus 71.8 percent for the parotid gland.

Basket Submandibular Gland Suspension
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2008Correction of a ptotic submandibular gland is a considerable challenge in neck rejuvenation. The procedures available to treat this condition either provide only short-term success or carry perceived risk of significant postoperative morbidities. The authors describe a new technique, basket submandibular gland suspension, for the effective long-term ...

Submandibular Gland Sialoangiography
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1969AN IMPROVED technique of submandibular sialoangiography is presented. This method gives a more complete visualization of the submandibular gland duct system, allowing better evaluation of pathologic conditions of the gland. Although parotid sialoangiography is widely used, and results are commonly reported, survey of the literature reveals a paucity of

The streaming submandibular gland
The Anatomical Record, 1985AbstractTwenty female young adult rats were injected with tritiated thymidine (3HTdR). The animals were then killed in groups of five, at the following times: 1 hour, and 4, 16, and 23 days. Autoradiograms of sections through the submandibular gland were prepared, and the location of labelled cells in relationship to tubuli and acini was recorded.

Submandibular Ectopic Thyroid Gland
Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1996A 45-year-old euthyroid woman had symmetric submandlbular masses. Radionuclide imaging with Tc-99m pertechnetate will hide the presence of ectopic thyroid tissue because of the physiologic radionuclide uptake by the salivary glands, whereas a study using radioactive iodine allows a correct diagnosis.

Submandibular Ectopic Thyroid Gland
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2006Ectopic thyroid glands are generally a rare entity appearing mostly in the cervical midline (90% of the cases) and even more rarely in other anatomical sites (10%). We present the case of an ectopic submandibular thyroid gland. An 81-year-old woman was referred to our department with a history of right-sided submandibular swelling.
