Power Cables and Submarine Power Cables

Engineering & Technology Reference, 2015
Power cables have been in use in underground and submarine transmission for over a hundred years. With the increased interconnection between lands and integration with power generation from offshore renewable energy, the demand for submarine power cables is getting stronger.

Cable Design for Optical Submarine Systems

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1984
Transoceanic communication systems using coaxial cables with repeaters have been in use since the 1950's and there is now a very extensive international network. All major manufacturers of such systems are now developing optical cables and repeaters which will provide increased capacity at lower cost.

Submarine Power Cables

OCEANS '76, 1976
Since shortly after the first submarine telegraph cable installations in the early 1800's, underwater power cables have been implanted and used. Initial acceptance and use of such cables was slow, however, and only accellerated in the past half-century with the replacement of natural rubber insulations.

Duplexing the submarine cable

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1928
In duplexing practice a balanced "bridge" is formed by an arrangement of two ratio arms and an artificial cable. By the use of a device known as the Adjustment Restorer impedance may be introduced into the bridge circuit by means of which the balance can be restored at any frequency, and the balance errors at the different frequencies determined.
