Oxygen isotope geochemistry of the second HSDP core [PDF]
Oxygen isotope ratios were measured in olivine phenocrysts (~1 mm diameter), olivine microphenocrysts (generally ~100–200 µm diameter), glass, and/or matrix from 89 samples collected from depths down to 3079.7 m in the second, and main, HSDP core (HSDP-2)

The first ultra-high resolution Digital Terrain Model of the shallow-water sector around Lipari Island (Aeolian Islands, Italy) [PDF]
Very high resolution bathymetric map obtained through multibeam echosounders data are crucial to generate accurate Digital Terrain Models from which the morphological setting of active volcanic areas can be analyzed in detail. Here we show and discuss

Submarine radial vents on Mauna Loa Volcano, Hawai'i [PDF]
A 2002 multibeam sonar survey of Mauna Loa's western flank revealed ten submarine radial vents and three submarine lava flows. Only one submarine radial vent was known previously. The ages of these vents are constrained by eyewitness accounts, geologic relationships, Mn‐Fe coatings, and geochemical stratigraphy; they range from 128 years B.P.

Sea-floor tectonics and submarine hydrothermal systems [PDF]
The discovery of metal-depositing hot springs on the sea floor, and especially their link to chemosynthetic life, was among the most compelling and significant scientific advances of the twentieth century. More than 300 sites of hydrothermal activity and

Continuous Plinian eruptions of volcanoes often excite atmospheric resonant oscillations with several distinct periods of a few minutes. We detected such harmonic oscillations by the 2021 August eruption of the Fukutoku-Okanoba volcano, a submarine ...

Petrography and petrology of the Hawaii Scientific Drilling Project lavas: Inferences from olivine phenocryst abundances and compositions [PDF]
The Mauna Loa (ML) and Mauna Kea (MK) lavas recovered by the Hawaii Scientific Drilling Project (HSDP) include aphyric to highly olivine-phyric basalts.

Gas Geochemistry at Grande Comore and Mayotte Volcanic Islands (Comoros Archipelago), Indian Ocean
The Comoros archipelago is an active geodynamic region of intra‐plate volcanism within which the youngest and oldest islands (Grande Comore and Mayotte respectively) are characterized by recent volcanic activity.
