Dilution Control by Advanced Submerged Arc Welding

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Dilution is a vital element in surfacing and depends on the difference in chemical composition between the weld and the parent metal, the welding process and the technique used. Metal surfacing is becoming the natural choice for reducing the consumption of expensive raw materials, processing cost and proper resource utilization.

The Modelling of Irradiation Embrittlement in Submerged-Arc Welds

1996
Until very recently, the irradiation embrittlement behaviour of submerged-arc welds has been interpreted in terms of two mechanisms, namely a matrix damage component and an additional component due to the irradiation-enhanced production of copper-rich precipitates.

Modelling of Slag Produced in Submerged Arc Welding

2020
This study has been conducted to reveal the effects of flux composition on slag produced and wire consumption. RSM was used for designing the experiments. Mathematical modeling was done for the output in terms of flux composition. The study reveals that the slag produced is dependent upon the basicity index of the flux and CaF2 used as a flux ...

Submerged Arc Welding – A Test for Centreline Cracking

2008
A newly developed test method for centreline cracking or solidification cracking has been evaluated by adding nickel as cold wire to the weld metal. Welding was performed by using synergic cold wire submerged arc welding with various arc wire diameters to achieve different nickel contents in the weld metal.
