Assessing the Very High Cycle Fatigue Behavior and Frequency Effect of Structural Steel Welds
ABSTRACT The very high cycle fatigue behavior of S275J2+N flux‐core arc welded joints was investigated using the ultrasonic fatigue testing method at a loading frequency of 20 kHz. A bespoke specimen design featuring the weld toe was employed to more suitably represent in‐service welded joints than typical ultrasonic fatigue testing specimens.

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF WELDING RESIDUAL STRESS OF HIGH-STRENGTH SHIPBUILDING STEEL
Ships are large welded structures. Welding residual stress (WRS) significantly impacts the mechanical properties of the structure. The plate and cylinder models welded by electrode welding (EW) and submerged arc welding (SAW) were designed to measure the

The univalent Bloch-Landau constant, harmonic symmetry and conformal glueing [PDF]
By modifying a domain first suggested by Ruth Goodman in 1935 and by exploiting the explicit solution by Fedorov of the Poly\'a-Chebotarev problem in the case of four symmetrically placed points, an improved upper bound for the univalent Bloch-Landau constant is obtained.

Abstract Lignocellulosic biomass (LCB) is a promising feedstock for the sustainable production of biofuels and other biobased products, owing to its abundance, low cost, and minimal competition with food crops for resources. It is mainly composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, forming a complex biomass matrix.

Role of tidal range and coastline morphology on the evolution of two macrotidal sand spits
Based on historical map and stratigraphic data, the construction dynamics of two sandspits, respectively, subject to macrotidal and hypertidal range (6.5 m vs. 14 m), and that both appeared at the end of the 17th century, are compared. The hypertidal spit developed fast, between 1650 and 1750 CE, with a dominant seaward direction while the macrotidal ...

Study of verification and validation of standard welding procedure specifications guidelines for API 5L X-70 grade line pipe welding [PDF]
Verification and validation of welding procedure specifications for X-70 grade line pipe welding was performed as per clause 8.2, Annexure B and D of API 5L, 45th Edition to check weld integrity in its future application conditions. Hot rolled coils were

Electrohydraulic effect of microsecond pulsed discharge in transformer oils
Abstract The physical process of microsecond pulsed discharge in transformer oil is the foundation for studying the initial mechanics of faults in ultra‐high voltage transformers. However, the microsecond‐scale electrohydraulic effect in transformer oil has not been investigated yet.

Piecewise geodesic Jordan curves I: weldings, explicit computations, and Schwarzian derivatives [PDF]
We consider Jordan curves $\gamma=\cup_{j=1}^n \gamma_j$ in the Riemann sphere for which each $\gamma_j$ is a hyperbolic geodesic in the complement of the remaining arcs $\gamma\smallsetminus \gamma_j$. These curves are characterized by the property that their conformal welding is piecewise M\"obius.
