Impact of light pollution on fishes: Mechanisms and ecological consequences
Abstract The increasing prevalence of artificial light at night (ALAN) is of growing ecological concern. By altering natural light regimes, ALAN affects the behaviour, physiology and life‐history of organisms. While research has largely focused on terrestrial ecosystems, aquatic ecosystems are increasingly exposed.

Modeling the Impact of the Implementation of a Submerged Structure on Surf Zone Sandbar Dynamics
Coastal defense strategies based on structures are increasingly unpopular as they are costly, leave lasting scars on the landscape, and sometimes have limited effectiveness or even adverse impacts.

Chemically welded capillary printing creates durable chloride‐selective membranes that resist drift and delamination. The integrated solid‐state sensor reliably tracks tidal salinity variations, enabling scalable, low‐cost marine monitoring across distributed networks. ABSTRACT Salinity is a critical environmental parameter governing ocean circulation,

Abstract Nature‐based shoreline protection strategies, such as engineered oyster reefs and living shorelines, offer sustainable alternatives to hard infrastructure. In this controlled laboratory study, we evaluate relative hydrodynamic and sediment‐response differences among interlocking oyster‐castle configurations under monochromatic wave forcing ...

SOLITARY WAVES PASSING OVER SUBMERGED BREAKWATERS
A method is described for the computation of the two-dimensional unsteady motion of a solitary wave passing over submerged breakwaters. Far from the breakwater the fluid is assumed static and the sea bed is level. The fluid motion is assumed to be irrotational, incompressible and inviscid.

Abstract High densities of burrowing talitrid amphipods inhabit beaches around the world. This includes California, where densities of more than 1,000 individuals m−2 are regularly recorded. Here, we provide evidence of Megalorchestia spp. excavating up to 10.38 kg dry sand m−2 d−1 on a beach in southern California, one of the highest mounding rates ...

Analysis of Shoreline Response to Large-Scale Breakwaters Based on Physical and Field Studies
This study investigates the erosion and accretion characteristics of the surrounding coastline during the installation of an approximately 1.5 km-long impermeable slit caisson breakwater on the east coast of Korea.

ABSTRACT In supply chain capitalism, logistics operates as a spatial power, reorganizing territories according to imperatives of circulation, efficiency and control. Focusing on the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Mexico, this article argues that logistics can only materialize in territory through violence. It conceptualizes this

A non-hydrostatic model for wave evolution on a submerged trapezoidal breakwater
A depth-averaged non-hydrostatic model is formulated to investigate wave evolution on a water channel with a submerged trapezoidal breakwater. This model is an extension of nonlinear shallow water equations that includes hydrodynamic pressure and ...
