In‐Mold Wettability Patterning of Microfluidic Devices Without Back‐End Surface Modification

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study demonstrates in‐mold wettability patterning of microfluidic devices, eliminating the need for post‐fabrication surface modification to define hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions. The new approach enables efficient droplet seeding in hydrophilic‐in‐hydrophobic well arrays and selective wettability of microchannels in fluidic devices.

Water Level Regulation Regime Shifts Drive Divergent Foraging Habitat Use by Wintering Hooded Cranes (Grus monacha) in Shallow Gate‐controlled Lakes of the Yangtze Floodplain

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study investigates how contrasting hydrological regulation regimes at two gate‐controlled lakes influence the foraging strategies of wintering Hooded Cranes. We demonstrate that while cranes at near‐natural sites follow Optimal Foraging Theory by utilizing high‐accessibility mudflats, those at artificially high‐water sites exhibit an adaptive ...

Whole System Ecohydrological Change Following Natural Flood Management and a Five‐Year Beaver Reintroduction Trial

open access: yesEcohydrology, Volume 19, Issue 4, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Once‐common beavers have been absent from the British landscape for centuries, but wild beaver populations have returned in recent years as part of reintroduction schemes, including releases into monitored enclosures. In North Yorkshire, such a release of Eurasian beavers took place in 2019.

Fuzzy Sliding Mode Control for a Nonlinear System With an Extended State Observer

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
The block diagram of Fuzzy Sliding Mode Controller (FSMC) with Extended State Observer (ESO) for a nonlinear system. ABSTRACT This paper presents a fuzzy‐based sliding mode controller (SMC) that incorporates an extended state observer (ESO) to achieve accurate trajectory tracking of uncertain nonlinear systems.
