Comparisons between seabed and free surface effects on underwater vehicle hydrodynamics
This paper presents a numerical study on the hydrodynamic coefficients of the DARPA SUBOFF hull when deeply submerged and near the seabed. The CFD-based model was validated with experimental data, namely experiments involving the SUBOFF and BB2 ...

Hydrodynamic Analysis of KVLCC2 Ship Sailing near Inclined Banks
The hydrodynamic forces of KVLCC2 ship sailing near inclined banks are calculated by using CFD based on RANS equation. Corresponding CFD uncertainty analysis is conducted according to the procedure recommended by ITTC. An unstructured grid, tetrahedral grid, is employed for discretization.

SCALE EFFECT ON THE LINEAR HYDRODYNAMIC COEFFICIENTS OF DARPA SUBOFF
As well known, forces and moments acting on a ship are functions of Froude and Reynolds numbers. As a ship gets larger in size, these two numbers grow, which leads to different flow regimes around the hull. However, the state-of-the-art in maneuvering calculations is to consider the hydrodynamic coefficients as constants for model and full ship scales.

On the Influences of Air Bubbles on Water Flow in a Two‐Dimensional Channel
As an inevitable trend for the sustainable development of the global economy, saving energy and reducing emissions are key goals for the entire world. The use of air bubbles to reduce viscous friction is one of the most effective approaches to achieve this goal, as it may significantly reduce the frictional drag of ships.

Influence of Full and Symmetrical Domains on the Numerical Flow around a SUBOFF Submarine Model using OpenFOAM [PDF]
In this research, we consider the influence of two kinds of domain on the numerical flow around a submarine model. A fully appended SUBOFF submarine model was used, and the structure and characteristics of the flow were investigated under a full domain ...

Similarity analysis of the flow-induced noise of a benchmark submarine
As one of the three major noise sources of submarines, flow-induced noise plays a key role for the stealth capability of submarines. Several research studies based on experiment or simulation have evaluated the sound radiation from the scale model ...
