Moderators of the influence of supervisor–subordinate similarity on subordinate outcomes.

Journal of Applied Psychology, 2001
Gender, racial, and ethnic similarity were examined for 2,883 subordinate-supervisor dyads in a military setting. All forms of demographic similarity were weakly associated with satisfaction with one's supervisor and continued membership in the Army. White subordinates under the supervision of non-Whites expressed the lowest level of satisfaction with ...

Subordination and coordination

1982
After three chapters on the grammatical units of word, phrase and clause, you may now be expecting a chapter on the highest unit of all on our grammatical rank scale (2.2), the SENTENCE. In fact, the sentence does not have a structure like that of lower units: sentence is simply a name for the largest stretch of language we normally consider in grammar,

Subordinate and Pseudo-Subordinate Semi-Algebras

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1967
Throughout this paper E denotes a compact Hausdorff space, which, to avoid trivial complications, is assumed to contain at least two points. C(E), with the uniform norm, is the Banach algebra of all continuous real-valued functions defined on E; C+(E) is the set of those functions in C(E) which take only non-negative values. A subset of C(E) is a wedge

Cofán subordinate clauses in a typology of subordination

2011
This paper presents various types of subordinate clauses in Cofán, an isolate language spoken on both sides of the Ecuadorian-Colombian border. These constructions are evaluated in light of parameters used in typological studies on subordination. We show that Cofán has two types of subordinate clauses: (i) Those that are marked with special forms of ...

Subordinate clauses

2007
In subordinate clauses, the C position is occupied by a complementizer word, which may be null. The finite verb stays in V. SpecCP is either empty or occupied by a wh-word, or by some other element indicating its semantic function. Nominal clauses are finite or non-finite. Finite nominal clauses are declarative or interrogative.

Abusive Subordination: A Multilevel Model of Abusive Subordination

Academy of Management Proceedings, 2014

Subordination in South America

2011
In terms of its linguistic and cultural make-up, the continent of South America provides us with a complex puzzle of language diversity. The continent teems with small language families and isolates, and even languages spoken in adjacent areas can be typologically vastly different from each other.

STATIONARITY OF DELAYED SUBORDINATORS

Stochastic Models, 2001
It is shown that, analogous to partial-sum processes in renewal theory, nondecreasing Levy processes (subordinators) can be delayed such as to show a certain stationarity.
