Free Convection Model Development for the Thermal Analysis of Cavities in Subsea Christmas Trees [PDF]
A free convective heat transfer model was developed in ANSYS CFX for trapped fluid volumes located inside subsea christmas trees. Analytical and numerical solutions to the heat transfer problem were generated for a vertical concentric cylinder enclosure containing water in the annulus, with aspect ratios D_o/D_i = 3/2 and H = 10 D_o.

Surface Casing Buckling Effect on the Wellhead Movement of a Subsea Well
In this work, the wellhead axial movement of a subsea well was predicted with a previously presented multi‐string model modified to account for a possible buckling of the well’s surface casing. This model represented the structural casing with a nonlinear spring that considers the casing‐soil interaction using t-z curves with hysteretic behavior.

Hydrate formation risk is an important challenge in the development of deep‐water gas field. Considering the characteristics of the Lingshui (LS) gas field in the South China Sea and the difference of well structures, a model for calculating wellbore temperature and pressure in deep‐water gas production well is proposed and verified by the field data ...

The two‐dimensional axisymmetric assembly of the radial metal seal and the closure member is abstracted as a combination of interference fit model and cantilever beam model. The related theoretical model between the radial metal seal's contact stress and its independent variables has been derived.

Natural Frequencies and Mode Shapes of Drill Pipe in Subsea Xmas Tree Installation
In this study, experimental and numerical investigations on the vibration characteristics of a drill pipe during the lowering of a subsea Xmas tree were presented. A fourth‐order partial differential equation with variable coefficients was established based on Euler–Bernoulli beam theory.
