Simulation of rock salt dissolution and its impact on land subsidence [PDF]
Extensive land subsidence can occur due to subsurface dissolution of evaporites such as halite and gypsum. This paper explores techniques to simulate the salt dissolution forming an intrastratal karst, which is embedded in a sequence of carbonates, marls,

Land subsidence is probably one of the most evident environmental effects of groundwater pumping. Globally, freshwater demand is the leading cause of this phenomenon. Land subsidence induced by aquifer system drainage can reach total values of up to 14.5

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

UK regional scale modelling of natural geohazards and climate change [PDF]
For over 10 years, the British Geological Survey (BGS) has been investigating geotechnical and mineralogical factors controlling volume change behaviour of UK clay soils and mudrocks.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Land subsidence is an environmental geological phenomenon mainly caused by groundwater overexploitation. Long-term overexploitation of groundwater not only causes compaction of aquifer thickness and surface deformation but also leads to the loss of ...
