Functionalized magnetic covalent organic framework nanocomposites for high‐efficiency adsorption of ethyl carbamate from liquor

open access: yesFood Frontiers, 2023
Ethyl carbamate (EC) is a kind of genotoxic and carcinogenic substance and potentially harmful to human health. In this study, simple and effective removal of EC from liquor samples by using the magnetic mesoporous adsorbent (Fe3O4@COFs) was investigated.

THE ADSORPTION OF HOP SUBSTANCES ON THE YEAST CELL WALL [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Institute of Brewing, 1968
The adsorption of hop substances on to the yeast cell wall, as distinct from the total loss during fermentation, followed the classical pattern of the Freundlich adsorption isotherm with both top and bottom fermentation yeasts. In order to avoid adventitious contamination of the yeasts by hop compounds during head formation, the fermentations were not ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.
