Investigating Remote Warfare as the Radical Undoing of Life: The Compounding Civilian Harm Effects of US‐Led Coalition Bombings in Iraq

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 2, 2026.
Abstract The increased reliance on remote warfare by US‐led military coalitions presents us with questions of “what war is” and “how to know about war” in the 21st century. In this article we substantiate calls for an embodied epistemology of war by introducing a transdisciplinary research agenda to investigate the temporal and spatial civilian harm ...

The Production of Everyday Carcerality in State‐Led Redevelopment of Informal Settlement in Delhi, India

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 2, 2026.
Abstract This paper focuses on the everyday experiences of carcerality of a community, known as Kathputli Colony, that has been waiting to be rehoused by the state for over a decade in Delhi, India. We draw on Kathputli Colony's everyday experiences to argue that state‐led housing policies and practices produce carceral socio‐spatialities, rather than ...

Optimisation of Temporary and Demountable Flood Protection for Infrastructure Resilience

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 19, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Infrastructure systems provide crucial services to human settlements. Extreme weather events, especially flooding, can disrupt these vital services. Temporary and demountable flood protections (TDFPs) are increasingly used to protect infrastructure assets and provide resilience.

Evaluating the Risk of Collision of Seals Swimming Within Metres of Operating Tidal Turbines

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT We used imaging sonar to continuously monitor wildlife at an operational tidal turbine in the Pentland Firth, Scotland, between May 2022 and June 2023. Of 704 detected seal tracks, 347 occurred during turbine operation and 122 of these were detected directly upstream of the rotating blades in the horizontal plane.

Multi‐environment evaluation of raffinose‐family oligosaccharide content in diverse dry bean varieties and their reduction upon canning

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 3, Page 1904-1913, February 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND The substantial amount of raffinose family oligosaccharide (RFO) in dry beans causes flatulence and digestive discomfort, limiting the appeal of dry bean food products. Substantial variation exists in RFO content among dry bean varieties, and various food processing steps such as soaking and canning are known to reduce RFO levels ...

A Study on Estimation of Static Capacitor Capacity in Distribution Systems Using Equal Power Factor Lines

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Volume 21, Issue 2, Page 300-306, February 2026.
In recent years, it has been pointed out that the power quality of a distribution system is deteriorating due to the increase of harmonics in power systems. When estimating the harmonic sources in a distribution system, it is important to know the locations and capacities of the static capacitors (SCs) located all over the distribution system, as the ...

Distinct Cloud‐to‐Ground Lightning Properties in Frontal Versus Warm‐Sector Heavy Rainfall Events

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Do systematic differences in cloud‐to‐ground (CG) lightning properties—particularly return stroke number and current intensity—exist across different thunderstorm types? This question is foundational not only to the atmospheric electricity but also to advancing lightning risk prediction, which crucially depends on a robust understanding of how

Federated Multi‐Source Data Fusion for Semi‐Supervised Fault Detection in District Heating Substations

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 43, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Fault detection in district heating (DH) substations is critical for energy efficiency and reliability. However, it is challenged by scarce fault labels, low‐frequency data, privacy concerns, and battery‐constrained gateways. We propose a novel hybrid semi‐supervised federated domain adaptation architecture for fault detection in DH.
