Substrate influence on epiphytic lichens
Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 1993The origin of the presence of soil elements in the epiphytic lichen Lecanora conizaeoides was investigated in an area of heavily polluted soil (The Broekpolder The Netherlands). Analysis results of lichens, bark and tree rings of the supporting trees indicated that for As, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Sc and V the levels in lichens may be considered to ...

Substrate influence in Hawai‘i Creole English
Language in Society, 2000Since the 1970s, it has been assumed that the diverse languages of plantation laborers in Hawai‘i had little effect on the development of Hawai‘i Creole English (HCE); this view supported theories that emphasize the role of innate linguistic universals in creolization.

Quantifying superstrate and substrate influence
Journal of Pidgin and Creole Languages, 2009To quantify the degree to which the structure of superstrate and substrate languages influence that of a creole, this paper compares the nearly 100 grammatical features of Guiné-Bissau Creole Portuguese surveyed in Baptista, Mello, & Suzuki (2007) with the corresponding structures in Balanta (one of the creole’s substrate/adstrate languages) and ...

KTN Dielectric Properties at Microwave Frequencies: Substrate Influence
Ferroelectrics, 2007To determine the dielectric properties of ferroelectric thin-films over a wide range of frequencies we developed a simple and efficient method based on the measurement of coplanar waveguide realized on ferroelectric/dielectric heterostructures by using a Spectral Domain Approach.

Evidence for Substrate Influence on Artificial Substrate Invertebrate Communities
Environmental Entomology, 2017Cobble baskets are frequently used as a tool to measure differences in benthic macroinvertebrate communities between waterbodies; however, underlying differences in substrate type may influence the resultant colonization of baskets, misrepresenting communities.

Influence of Substrate Hardness on Coating-Substrate Adhesion
Advanced Materials Research, 2010Good coating-substrate adhesion is an essential requirement for almost all kinds of coated devices to perform normally and stay usable for a long period. Researchers have been developing many reliable means to characterize coating adhesion and have been exploring factors that might affect the adhesion status.

Influence of Transketolase Substrates on Its Conformation
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2000Dynamics stimulation of the holotransketolase molecule revealed that the enzyme's conformation in crystal was different from that in solution. It was shown also that dissolved holotransketolase can bind aldose (the acceptor substrate) even in the absence of ketose (the donor substrate).

Substrate influence in creole formation
Journal of Pidgin and Creole Languages, 1998This paper shows that the the inputs to, and the processes of, creole formation can be accurately determined when combining sociohistoraical and comparative linguistic data.

Substrate Influences on Incised‐Channel Morphology
The Journal of Geology, 2002Abstract Surveys of channel geometry and substrate resistance along an incised ephemeral channel in southern India were used to examine the influence of substrate on channel geometry. The surveys indicate that as substrate resistance increases, the channel grows narrower and deeper, with undulating wall and bed topography, more localized erosion in the
