Compact filter solutions in substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology

2016 IEEE International Workshop on Electromagnetics: Applications and Student Innovation Competition (iWEM), 2016
This paper presents an overview of the recent advances in the field of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filters with compact size. The proposed structures exploit different solutions to reduce substantially the footprint of the filters, including the use of folded SIW, half-mode SIW, and quarter-mode SIW cavities, as well as the use of mushroom ...

Multilayer Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) Filters With Higher-Order Mode Suppression

IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2016
This letter presents a multilayer approach for suppressing the higher order modes of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filters. Rectangular SIW resonators in multilayer substrates can be vertically coupled with magnetic and/or electric coupling by the proposed apertures etched on the middle metal layer.

Full-Band Air-Filled Waveguide-to-Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) Direct Transition

IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2015
A 45% bandwidth in-line air-filled waveguide-to-substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) direct transition is designed to greatly improve the performance of existing configurations. The transition, based on a four-section height-stepped waveguide, includes a single-step widening transformer that enables full-band operation without using any dielectric ...

Iris Waveguide Bandpass Filter Using Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) for Satellite Communication

2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2006
In this paper, an iris waveguide filter with substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) structure at satellite communication band is discussed. The SIW structure is realized by via-holes on the substrate and shows a possibility of integration with other circuits. The iris waveguide filter has the insertion loss of 3.36 dB, the return loss of about 20 dB, and

Fast Nonlinear Eigenvalues Analysis of Arbitrarily Shaped Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) Resonators

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2009
In this paper, the problem of evaluating resonant frequencies of arbitrarily shaped substrate integrated waveguide resonators is considered. Resonances are found regarding them as nonlinear eigenvalues of the operator describing the scattering by metallic posts in a parallel plate waveguide.

Design Fundamentals: Iris Waveguide Filters Versus Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) Bandpass Filters

2020
A waveguide iris bandpass filter is designed in this paper. The proposed filter is created inside the structure by cutting inductive symmetrical windows known as irises. Later, using substrate integrated technology, its equivalent bandpass filter is released.

Wideband bandpass filter based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) cavities

2015 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2015), 2015
Two wideband bandpass filter (BPF) are proposed and designed using the U-slotted substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavities. The U-shape slots, etched on the SIW cavity, are used to form up a new multiple-mode resonator (MMR) in order to achieve a wide passband of operation while keeping the overall size of the filter circuit to be much compact.
