A general substructure synthesis method for the dynamic simulation of complex structures

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1980
Abstract In this paper a general substructure synthesis method is developed for the dynamic analysis of complex flexible structures. The motion of each substructure is represented by a given number of substructure admissible functions. Substructure admissible functions are often low-order polynomials, and hence computationally easy to work with.

Component-mode synthesis method for coupled continuous and FE discretized substructures

Engineering Structures, 2003
The component-mode synthesis method is adopted in order to reduce the number of degrees-of-freedom of structures composed of two or more substructures, without losing the mean physical characteristics of the structure. In this method the substructures are usually modelled by means of finite element (FE) approach.

The mixed substructure synthesis method with physics-impedance-modal parameter

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 1999
Based on the concept of the parameter-mixed synthesis, this paper presents a mixed formulation of the substructure synthesis method in terms of the physics-impedance-mo dal parameter. An example is given to show the validity of this method.

Dynamic analysis of frames by a Rayleigh–Ritz based substructure synthesis method

Engineering Structures, 2000
Abstract This paper is concerned with the application of a Rayleigh–Ritz based substructure synthesis method to the dynamic analysis of N –story framed structures. The objective is to obtain an accurate and low-order dynamic model of the distributed structure.

A Method of Damping Synthesis From Substructure Tests

Journal of Mechanical Design, 1980
The assembly of damped linear structures along continual interfaces in order to achieve a damping synthesis may pose problems, because assembly methods are ill-conditioned when there is a high number of degrees of freedom at the interfaces. Moreover, identification methods using the smoothing of impedance curves do not give a Rayleigh-Ritz model.

Substructure Synthesis Methods and Their Application to Structural-Acoustic Simulations

2005
Abstract : An overview of impedance- and modal-based substructure analysis techniques used in the Structural Acoustics Department is presented. The impedance technique described herein offers a substantial advantage over other coupling techniques because it is uniquely suited to handle data sets of varying origin.

A more general method of substructure mode synthesis for dynamic analysis

AIAA Journal, 1985
A method of substructure mode synthesis for determining the dynamic characteristics of an undamped system in a specified frequency band is investigated. The motion of each substructure is represented by the three mode sets: inertia, selected normal, and residual modes. Inertia and residual mode sets are introduced to approximate the truncated lower and

VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF SHAFT-BLADED DISK SYSTEM BY USING SUBSTRUCTURE SYNTHESIS AND ASSUMED MODES METHOD

open access: yesJournal of Sound and Vibration, 1996
An analytical substructure synthesis and assumed modes method is developed to investigate the effect of the flexibility of a bladed disk assembly on the vibrational modes of a flexible rotor system.

Linear substructure synthesis via Lyapunov stable penalty methods

Finite Elements in Analysis and Design, 1991
As well-known, one of the most prevalent methods to analyse large and complex structures with a good accuracy and avoiding too costly computations, is to use substructuring and modal synthesis methods. These methods comprise two main previous steps, namely: reduced discretized representations of the substructures, and then a boundary interconnection ...
