The PTT originates from the GPi and projects to the VA/VL thalamic nuclei via Forel's Fields, forming a key motor signal pathway. Lesioning the PTT may disrupt basal ganglia–thalamocortical circuits and related motor control. Connections through Forel's Fields also link the PTT to the PPN and subthalamic structures such as the ZI.
