Subtractive Categories and Extended Subtractions

Applied Categorical Structures, 2009
A pointed, finitely complete category \({\mathcal C}\) is subtractive if for every binary relation \(R\to X\times Y\) the corresponding relation \(\Hom_{{\mathcal C}}(C,R)\to\Hom_{{\mathcal C}} (C,X)\times\Hom_{{\mathcal C}}(C,Y)\) satisfies \((x,0_{C,Y})\in R\) whenever \((x,y)\in R\) and \((0_{C,X}, y)\in R\).

Holographic Subtraction

Applied Optics, 1971
A holographic technique by which two dissimilar optical fields can be subtracted to yield only their difference is presented. The principle underlying this technique is that of optical interference between a holographically reconstructed field and a direct real-time one. Experimental verification is presented for the three cases of image-plane, fourier-

Subtraction by subtraction?

2020
How is Brexit likely to affect efforts to complete the European single market for capital and financial services? Brexit will shrink European capital markets by roughly 25 percent, with even larger declines in equity markets and pension funds. Approximately half of all euro transactions into foreign exchange take place in London, as do more than 75 ...

Photographic Subtraction

Acta Radiologica. Diagnosis, 1975
The purpose of subtraction of angiographic images is to demonstrate the vessels free of superimposed, disturbing image noise. With the aid of physical film parameters the theoretic basis for an optimum subtraction technique is presented.

Subtraction Sialography

Radiology, 1977
Subtraction sialography is described and demonstrated to be a simple yet helpful technique in evaluating the salivary glands. The improved visualization of the ductal system is demonstrated.

Subtractive Hybridization

2007
Subtractive hybridization, like serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE), RNA arbitrarily primed polymerase chain reaction (RAP-PCR) and microarrays, is a screening method for differentially expressed genes. At first, poly-A+-RNA is isolated and reverse transcribed into cDNA. With the SMART technology, total RNA can be used.

Subtractive Categories

Applied Categorical Structures, 2005
The author gives a categorical characterization of pointed subtractive varieties in the sense of \textit{A. Ursini} [Algebra Univers. 31, 204--222 (1994; Zbl 0799.08010)]. Then he shows that the resulting subtractive categories are useful in the theory of Mal'tsev categories.

Subtraction

The Mathematical Gazette, 1959
For some years I had been dissatisfied with the methods we were using in my small Primary School, to teach Subtraction. The slower children were unable to grasp the basic principles of Equal Addition, and many errors were made, as the children were using a “parrot” pattern, instead of basing their work on understanding and logical sequence.

PEDICLE SUBTRACTION OSTEOTOMY

Neurosurgery, 2008
Pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) is an effective tool for the correction of fixed sagittal plane deformity. However, there is potentially significant perioperative morbidity associated with this technique. We report our perioperative morbidity rate in recently performed PSO cases treated with our present surgical, anesthetic, and monitoring ...
