Modified Subtraction Technique for Neuroradiology

Radiology, 1973
The authors suggest modifying the standard subtraction technique for use in neuroradiology by using the most informative film in the venous phase as the mask. The anatomical relationships between arteries and veins are shown on one film, while the effect of space-occupying lesions is accentuated using this technique.

Subtraction Radiography: Techniques and Limitations

Radiology, 1977
Subtraction radiography permits the use of 7-10 times less contrast material than is required without subtraction techniques. The first-order, second-order, and composite mask techniques are described and evaluated. While the second-order technique gives more complete cancellation of common structures, the more commonly used first-order technique was ...

Improved Contrast in Subtraction Technique

Radiology, 1970
The authors describe a rapid, reliable method of second-order subtraction in which contrast is improved by the addition of a final exposure on high-contrast photographic film. Such films readily lend themselves to copying for slides and publications, with negligible cost of materials.

Image Subtraction Techniques in Immunoscintigraphy

International Journal of Radiation Applications and Instrumentation. Part B. Nuclear Medicine and Biology, 1986
This paper is devoted to the application of the Image Subtraction Technique to immunoscintigraphy. It is technical, because, although based on simple principles, this method raises problems which are not always satisfactorily solved. It is divided into three parts.

A simple noise subtraction technique

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2004
Measuring very low level signals at low frequency is a tedious task, because environmental noise increases in this frequency domain and it is very difficult to filter it efficiently. In order to counteract these major problems, we propose a simple and generic noise subtraction technique, which mixes several features of traditional feedback techniques ...

Registration techniques for image subtraction

Conference Proceedings '88., IEEE Southeastcon, 2003
Image subtraction can be used to aid in detection of flaws in a manufactured product by subtracting the image of a perfect product from that of the sample under tests. For this technique to be successful, the two images must be precisely registered. Several registration techniques were applied to various images which had been subjected to translation ...

Comparing Registration Techniques For Digital Subtraction Radiography

Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1992
The study described in this paper presents a new imaging geometry based on the correspondence of 3D structures. It can be used to establish correspondence between pairs of clinical images taken at different proj ection angles and to produce reconstructed images comparable with images taken with mechanical devices.

MP‐RAGE subtraction venography: A new technique

Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1995
AbstractPreliminary evaluation of a new magnetic resonance (MR) venography technique was performed with data sets from five patients undergoing BAR imaging of the brain before and after intravenous administration of gadopentetate dimeglumine. Before contrast agent injection, the patients were imaged with MP‐RAGE (magnetization‐prepared rapid gradient ...

Newer Subtraction and Filtration Techniques

Radiologic Clinics of North America, 1985
This article attempts to describe and superficially evaluate the present and future application of a number of newer subtraction techniques, including recursive temporal filtration, matched filtration, hybrid subtraction, tomography and tomosynthesis, and parametric imaging and image processing.

Subtraction sialography: An improved and simplified technique

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1971
Abstract A new method of subtraction sialography employing a serialographic cassette tunnel film changer is described. This method, which can be used in any x-ray department, offers high-quality radiographs with excellent detail.
