Background The literature is inconclusive as to whether an intramedullary nail changes the distribution of a subsequent ipsi- or contralateral fracture of the femur. We have compared the incidence, localisation, and fracture pattern of subsequent femoral

Early surgery (< 48 h) in super‐aged hip fracture patients reduces 1–2 years mortality, complications, hospital stay, and costs, supporting timely intervention protocols. ABSTRACT Objective The global aging population has led to a significant increase in hip fractures among elderly patients, posing substantial clinical challenges.

ABSTRACT Although the proximal femoral nail anti‐rotation (PFNA) is accompanied by several benefits, using the nail is technically challenging and may pose some errors, leading to osteosynthesis failure. Here, we report a critical presentation of an uncommon side effect of PFNA surgery.

External Fixation Assisted Intramedullary Total Femur Arthroplasty: A Case Report
Introduction Total femur replacement (TFR) is a salvage procedure for patients with multiple failed hip and knee arthroplasties and is associated with high complication rates. Intramedullary TFR has emerged as a technique to preserve critical soft tissue attachments; however, maintaining limb length, alignment, and rotation remains challenging.

Periprosthetic fractures are rare following a total hip arthroplasty (THA). They are often classified using the Vancouver system and are treated operatively with internal fixation or revision THA depending on the classification. Determining the appropriate classification for periprosthetic fractures can greatly influence the treatment a patient ...

Prolonged treatment with bisphosphonates has commonly been associated with atypical femur fractures. Localized periosteal thickening of the femoral lateral cortex is considered one of the minor features of these fractures and is caused by distribution of tensile stress and the inhibition of bone resorption.
