Abstract Chickpeas (Cicer arietinum L.) serve as a protein‐rich staple, particularly in Mediterranean countries, where they are often grown in marginal and water‐stressed areas. This meta‐analysis synthesized evidence from peer‐reviewed publications across Mediterranean countries to assess how chickpea rhizobial inoculation influences chickpea ...

Subtropical Gyre Nutrient Cycling in the Upper Ocean: Insights From a Nutrient‐Ratio Budget Method
We use a nutrient‐ratio budget method to investigate the relative importance of different nutrient source and sink terms at time‐series Station ALOHA and Bermuda Atlantic Time‐series Study (BATS) in the North Pacific and North Atlantic subtropical gyres,

Dicrananthera C. Presl. is a monospecific genus of the tribe Marcetieae, comprising perennial herbs typically occurring in areas adjacent to wetlands. The species exhibits a disjunct distribution, with confirmed records in both the Amazon and Atlantic Forest domains.

Eastern boundary drainage of the North Atlantic subtropical gyre
The eastern boundary of the North Atlantic subtropical gyre (NASG) is an upwelling favorable region characterized by a mean southward flow. The Canary Upwelling Current (CUC) feeds from the interior ocean and flows south along the continental slope off NW Africa, effectively providing the eastern boundary condition for the NASG.

Relative Abundance of Floating Plastic Debris and Neuston in the Eastern North Pacific Ocean
Despite an increasing research conducted on ocean plastic pollution over the last decade, there are still large knowledge gaps in our current understanding of how floating plastic debris accumulating in subtropical oceanic gyres may harm the surface ...

Meyna grisea and M. peltata, two new records from Imphal Valley, Manipur, India, characterised by a capitate stigma with 4–5 divergent, spreading lobes on a globose base, and a prominent peltate stigma, respectively, are described and illustrated here. Photographs, key to the species, along with their coordinates and diagnostic characters in comparison

Sensitivity of an idealized subtropical gyre to the eastern boundary conditions
The flow pattern of the North Atlantic Subtropical Gyre (NASG) is simulated using a highly idealised one-layer quasi-geostrophic wind-driven model. The novel feature of the model is the specification of the eastern boundary conditions. This is an upwelling favourable region with a quasi-permanent southward flowing coastal jet, which is fed by the ...

Evergreen broadleaved forests (EBLFs) represent an iconic vegetation type in subtropical montane East Asia, but they are experiencing intensifying anthropogenic pressure and increasing habitat fragmentation. Here, using a dominant and widespread tree species characteristic of East Asian EBLFs, we examine its phylogeographic history and evaluate what it

Phosphorus dynamics in the North Pacific subtropical gyre [PDF]
Phosphorus (P) dynamics were studied during several research cruises to Stn ALOHA and in the 'Climax region' of the North Pacific subtropical gyre (NPSG) in 1996-1997. The aim of this study was to: (1) investigate the coupled uptake and regeneration of inorganic phosphate (Pi) and the production of dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP), (2) quantify the ...

What goes in must come out: the oceanic outgassing of anthropogenic carbon
About 25% of the emitted anthropogenic CO _2 is absorbed by the ocean and transported to the interior through key gateways, such as the Southern Ocean or the North Atlantic.
