Delayed greening, the phenomenon in which expanding leaves appear red, blue or pale green due to low chlorophyll content, has long intrigued ecologists. However, little is known about what type of species are most likely to delay greening or which environmental conditions are associated with delayed greening.

The core–periphery hypothesis (CPH) predicts that genetic diversity is greatest at the centre and lowest at the edges of a species' distribution because genetic diversity is a function of a species' abundance, which is also expected to be greatest at the centre and lowest at the edges of the distribution. Variants of the CPH include the ‘Ramped North' (

Guava (Psidium guajava L.) fruit can have climacteric or suppressed climacteric behavior, depending on the cultivar. Guava fruit have a short shelf-life mainly due to rapid ripening rate and high susceptibility to decay, mechanical damage, and chilling injury. The fruit can be stored for up to 2–3 weeks at 7–10°C, and 85–90% relative humidity (RH), but

The Origin of the Subtropical Anticyclones
Abstract The origin of the Northern Hemisphere summer subtropical anticyclones is investigated using a linear quasigeostrophic model. It is found that the broad features in the model solutions forced by realistic heating fields acting on observed zonal flows agree well with those in the observations.

The potential for bananas to produce year round is best expressed when water is abundant and daily temperatures are in the range of 20-30°C. Zones with these conditions produce fruit for the global market.

The geography of connectivity shapes plant endemism hotspots
The high biodiversity in mountains is attributed to species accumulation from dispersal, high habitat heterogeneity and local speciation. Landscape connectivity thereby influences colonization and speciation processes, making its net effect on biodiversity challenging to understand.

The species–area relationship (SAR) on islands describes how the numbers of species increase with increasing island size (or island‐like habitat, such as lakes). Despite its conceptual importance, there is considerable uncertainty surrounding its shape in freshwater lakes, as well as the potential mechanisms that underlie the SAR.
