Medicinal Plant Diversity and Inter-Cultural Interactions between Indigenous Guarani, Criollos and Polish Migrants in the Subtropics of Argentina

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Numerous studies highlight the importance of phytotherapy for indigenous and non-indigenous people in different parts of the world. In this work we analyze the richness (number of species), diversity (plant identity and the number of illnesses for which ...

Investigating Crude Sesame Oil Sedimentation and Its Monitoring Using Laser Backscattering Imaging (LBI)

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Sesame oil is a food and energy resource that is not used enough. Sedimentation of crude oil after pressing can remove particles and happens regardless of the producer’s intention.

Subtropical Real Root Finding [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2015 ACM International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation, 2015
We describe a new incomplete but terminating method for real root finding for large multivariate polynomials. We take an abstract view of the polynomial as the set of exponent vectors associated with sign information on the coefficients. Then we employ linear programming to heuristically find roots.

A Novel OsMPK6‐OsMADS47‐PPKL1/3 Module Controls Grain Shape and Yield in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
OsMADS47 is identified as a key regulator governing rice grain morphology. Phosphorylation‐dependent regulation of its activity directs the development of slender versus round grains, modulating both yield and appearance. This mechanism bridges cellular signaling with transcriptional regulation, establishing a molecular framework for grain optimization.

Quantifying influence of rainfall events on outdoor thermal comfort in subtropical dense urban areas

open access: yesGeocarto International
Existing research on outdoor thermal comfort in urban areas focuses on meteorological factors such as temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and radiation on sunny or cloudy days. However, climate conditions before, during, and after rainfall events

Influence of Self-Compaction on the Airflow Resistance of Aerated Wheat Bulks (Triticum aestivum L., cv. ‘Pionier’)

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Aeration is a key post-harvest grain processing operation that forces air through the pore volume of the grain bulk to establish favorable conditions to maintain grain quality and improve its storability.

The response of tropospheric circulation to perturbations in lower-stratospheric temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A multiple regression analysis of the NCEP-NCAR reanalysis dataset shows a response to increased solar activity of a weakening and poleward shift of the subtropical jets.
