Wide band UV/Vis/NIR blazed-binary reflective gratings: two lithographic techniques investigation [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2021
We report on subwavelength reflective gratings for hyperspectral applications operating in the 340 nm-1040 nm spectral range. The blazed grating period is 30 μm and is composed of 2D subwavelength binary structures with sizes in-between 120 nm and 350 nm.

Suspended Dielectric Mirrors at Deep Subwavelength Scale

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
Reduction in the thickness of air-suspended mirrors to the deep subwavelength scale can facilitate efficient optical and mechanical design. The thinner the mirror, the smaller is its mass, and the more excellent mechanical properties it presents.

A Mid-Infrared Dual-Band Filter With Ultra-High Resolving Power

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
A mid-infrared (mid-IR) dual-band filter with ultra-high resolving power is designed and numerically investigated. It is composed of an Al2O3 layer between a gold grating and a CaF2 substrate.

Thermally Controllable High-Efficiency Unidirectional Coupling in a Double-Slit Structure Filled With Phase Change Material

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
We present the realization of a high-efficiency, compact, and thermally tunable unidirectional launcher of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) in a double-slit structure filled with phase change materials (PCMs). PCMs such as VO2 provide a feasible way for

Inverse designed extended depth of focus meta-optics for broadband imaging in the visible

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2021
We report an inverse-designed, high numerical aperture (∼0.44), extended depth of focus (EDOF) meta-optic, which exhibits a lens-like point spread function (PSF).

Apodized Focusing Fully Etched Subwavelength Grating Couplers

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
We experimentally demonstrate apodized focusing subwavelength grating couplers for both the fundamental transverse electric (TE00) mode and the fundamental transverse magnetic (TM00) mode.

Tunable Flat-Top Filtering Response in Cascaded Resonant Waveguide Gratings

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2021
The applicability of resonant waveguide grating (RWG)-based structures as filters to control the spectral response in an optical communication system is investigated.

A Slot-Based Surface Plasmon-Polariton Waveguide With Long-Range Propagation and Superconfinement

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
A full-vector spectral element method (SEM) is applied to model and simulate surface plasmon-polariton (SPP) waveguides. Gauss-Lobatto-Legendre (GLL) polynomials are used to construct higher-order basis functions to achieve spectral accuracy.

Novel Quadruple-Band Microwave Metamaterial Absorber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
In this paper, we report the design, analysis, and simulation of a novel quadrupleband metamaterial absorber at microwave frequencies. The absorber is composed of delicate periodic patterned structures and a metallic background plane, which are separated
