Application of lumped-parameter models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This technical report concerns the lumped-parameter models for a suction caisson with a ratio between skirt length and foundation diameter equal to 1/2, embedded into an viscoelastic soil.

Geopower, Geos and the Colonisation of Palestine

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Volume 51, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT While the majority of geographical work on colonialism in Palestine centres on territory and land, this article foregrounds geopower and geos in the making of spatial relations. Three arguments are made over three corresponding sections. The first draws on recent writing on geopower and geos (primarily that by Elizabeth Grosz, Elizabeth ...

Numerical Simulation on Anchored Load-Bearing Characteristics of Suction Caisson for Floating Offshore Wind Power

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Suction caisson anchor foundations have been widely applied in oil and gas platforms but remain in the exploratory stage for floating offshore wind power applications, where research on their anchor load-bearing characteristics is insufficient.

Caesarean Scar Ectopic Pregnancy in Early Gestation: A Scoping Review of Definitions and Diagnostic Approach

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 133, Issue 5, Page 888-899, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy (CSEP) is defined by the implantation and development of a gestational sac inside a caesarean scar defect, but variations in classification systems and diagnostic criteria exist. Objectives This study aimed to systematically review the different criteria used in the medical literature to diagnose ...

The theoretical modelling of a suction caisson foundation using hyperplasticity theory

open access: yes, 2005
A theoretical model for the analysis of suction caison foundations, based on a thermodynamic framework (Houlsby and Puzrin 2000) and the macro-element concept is presented. The elastic-plastic response is first described in terms of a single-yield-surface model, using a non-associated flow rule.

Water‐Borne Erosion of Reinforced Polymer Composites: Application to Shallow Offshore Marine Environment

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 4102-4126, 10 March 2026.
Comparison of experimental and model‐predicted erosion rates for carbon fibre‐reinforced polymer (CFRP) and glass fibre‐reinforced polymer (GFRP) under low‐velocity (2 m/s) and at varying angles and sand concentrations (0.0, 0.05, 0.4 g/L). The results demonstrate good agreement between experimental data and model predictions across different erosive ...

Experimental Study of Wave Forces on an Offshore Wind Turbine Tower Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
study of a tapered wind turbine tower is performed using particle image velocimetry and numerical methods. A 1.5 MW wind turbine base was studied and re-designed.

Shaping the human face: Periosteal bone modeling across ontogeny

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 2, Page 271-292, February 2026.
Abstract Facial morphology is a defining aspect of Homo sapiens that distinguishes our species from fossil ancestors and plays a central role in estimating age, sex, and ancestry in both past and present populations. Understanding how the face develops during postnatal ontogeny is essential for interpreting adult facial variation.

Field trials of suction caissons in clay for offshore wind turbine foundations

open access: yesGéotechnique, 2005
A programme of testing of caisson foundations in clay at the Bothkennar test site is described. The tests are relevant to the design of foundations for offshore wind turbines, in the form of either monopod or tetrapod foundations. Records are presented for installation of the caissons, cyclic moment loading under both dynamic and quasi-static ...

A Comprehensive Review of Potential Locations, Foundation Design, and Seismic Considerations for Installation of Offshore Wind Farms in Türkiye

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Offshore wind power offers a promising solution to Türkiye's energy and climate challenges, with its extensive coastline and strategic location providing significant potential for development between 2035 and 2053. While no OWTs are currently installed, designated development zones in the Sea of Marmara mark the initial steps toward increasing ...
