Evaluation of Soil–Structure Interface Models Considering Cyclic Loading Effect
ABSTRACT The simulation of the soil–structure interface (SSI) under cyclic loading is critically important in geotechnical engineering. Numerous studies have been conducted to explore the cyclic behaviors exhibited at the SSI. However, existing model evaluations primarily rely on direct comparisons between experiments and simulations, with limited ...

Muscular remodeling and anteroposterior patterning during tapeworm segmentation
Abstract Background Tapeworms are parasitic flatworms that independently evolved a segmented body plan, historically confounding comparisons with other animals. Anteroposterior (AP) patterning in free‐living flatworms and in tapeworm larvae is associated with canonical Wnt signaling and positional control genes (PCGs) are expressed by their musculature

Time-critical design methods for suction caisson foundations
This thesis is centred around the development of a family of computationally efficient design methods called ‘oxCaisson’, that can predict the behaviour of suction caisson foundations under six degrees-of-freedom loading. These design methods were developed for applications where timeliness or speed is a crucial factor; hence the term ‘time-critical ...

Monopiles subjected to uni- and multi-lateral cyclic loading [PDF]
Offshore wind turbines are subjected to significant environmental loads from a combination of current, wind and wave action. Under such conditions, the directions of these environmental loads vary over the service life of the structure and therefore the ...

Optimal control of the heave motion of marine cable subsea-unit systems [PDF]
One of the key problems associated with subsea operations involving tethered subsea units is the motions of support vessels on the ocean surface which can be transmitted to the subsea unit through the cable and increase the tension.

CASE HISTORY ON THE PENETRATION OF CAISSON-TYPE FOUNDATIONS INTO SEABED BY USE OF SUCTION FORCE
