Sudden birth and sudden death of entanglement

Journal of Computational Methods in Sciences and Engineering, 2010
We discuss a simple model for creation of entanglement in a system composed of two two-level atoms interacting with a common environment. The role of the environment in entangling and disentangling of the atoms is explored. We demonstrate how the spontaneous decay of an initial excitation of the system can create a transient entanglement between the ...

Environment-Induced Sudden Death of Entanglement

Science, 2007
We demonstrate the difference between local, single-particle dynamics and global dynamics of entangled quantum systems coupled to independent environments. Using an all-optical experimental setup, we showed that, even when the environment-induced decay of each system is asymptotic, quantum entanglement may suddenly disappear.

Sudden death and sudden birth of entanglement

Quantum Dynamics and Information, 2010
by concurrence. Phenomena of sudden death, revival, and sudden birth of entanglement are discussed. It is shown that when the atoms behave collectively and the reservoir is the vacuum, the entanglement evolution exhibits quite a rich structure. For thermal reservoir with non-zero mean number of photons this structure is gradually degraded as the ...

Enhancement of Sudden Death of Entanglement for Driven Qubits [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Low Temperature Physics, 2008
We study the recently discovered phenomena of sudden death of entanglement for a system of two qubits, each of them independently longitudinally damped by a reservoir and subjected to a continuous driving. We show that driving produces, in the interaction picture, an effective bath that has elements amounting to various extra sources of noise ...

A STUDY ON THE SUDDEN DEATH AND SUDDEN BIRTH OF ENTANGLEMENT IN AN OPEN SYSTEM

International Journal of Quantum Information, 2009
In this paper, we consider the entanglement dynamics of two cavities interacting with independent reservoirs. When the cavity entanglement suddenly disappeared, the reservoir entanglement suddenly and necessarily appears. We study the effect of purity of initial entangled state of two cavities on the entanglement evolution, and acquire that the purity

A NEW FEATURE ON THE SUDDEN DEATH OF ENTANGLEMENT

Modern Physics Letters B, 2008
Based on the exactly analytic solution obtained of the intensity-dependent Jaynes–Cummings model for a certain class of initial entangled mixed states, we explore the time evolution of the entanglement between two atoms, initially non-locally correlated and separately interacting with two distinct cavities.
