Da Vinci's mischief: xylem conduits in the stems of woody plants do not furcate. [PDF]

open access: yesNew Phytol
Summary The hydraulic architecture of plants is often modeled as a ‘furcating’ network, in which xylem conduits proliferate in number toward the stem apex, analogous to animal circulatory systems. Yet whether furcation actually occurs within woody stems remains untested, despite major implications for carbon costs and hydraulic efficiency.

Changes in abscisic acid metabolism in relation to the maturation of grapevine (Vitis vinifera L., cv. Mencía) somatic embryos

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2020
Background Somatic embryogenesis in grapevines is a complex process that depends on many physiological and genetic factors. One of its main limitations is the process of precocious germination of the somatic embryos in differentiation medium.

Determination of gibberellic acid and abscisic acid in (Zea mays L.) (ICA-V305) seeds germinated using dynamic sonication assisted solvent extraction and maceration

open access: yesMethodsX, 2022
Phytohormones are molecules responsible for growth, development, and metabolism regulation in plants. Gibberellic acid (GA3) and abscisic acid (ABA) are the main phytohormones involved in seed germination.

Limiting factors for Vitis vinifera L., Albariño variety production in soils dedicated to the vineyard single-crop system

open access: yesOENO One, 2003
With the purpose of studying the influence of Vitis vinifera L. (Albariño variety) single-crop system on the limiting edaphic factors for the grape production four plots dedicated to this single-crop during 6, 12, and 100 years were selected.
