Exergy‐Based Simulation and Optimization of Multiagent MSW Gasification for Sustainable Energy Recovery Using Aspen Plus

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Thermochemical gasification is one of the most efficient methods for producing solid waste synthesis gas. Therefore, to predict and analyze the process of gasification of municipal solid waste (MSW) in a downdraft fixed‐bed gasification reactor with a thermal capacity of 2.1 kW, a comprehensive numerical modeling approach based on Gibbs free ...

The use of sugarcane wastes in concrete

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Science, 2022
Cement production is held responsible of polluting the atmosphere with carbon dioxide (CO2). The researchers have shown that manufacturing of one ton of cement releases about half ton of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Activated carbons made from cocoa (Theobroma cacao) and coconut (Cocos nucifera) shells can be used as adsorbents to improve the quality of frying oils

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, EarlyView.
Carbonised cocoa shells and carbonised coconut shells have a high level of porosity and a large adsorption surface area. Activated carbons made from cocoa and from the mixture cocoa–coconut shells at 15% demonstrated their ability to reduce primary and secondary oxidation products in frying oils and improves the organoleptic properties of fried foods ...

Sugarcane bagasse pulping and bleaching: Thermal and chemical characterization

open access: yesBioResources, 2011
Cellulose fibers were isolated from sugarcane bagasse in three stages. Initially sugarcane bagasse was subjected to a pre-treatment process with hydrolyzed acid to eliminate hemicellulose. Whole cellulosic fibers thus obtained were then subjected to a two-stage delignification process and finally to a bleaching process.
