Extraction Process in the Ethanol Production from Sugarcane – A Comparison of Milling and Diffusion

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2014
The objective of the extraction process in the ethanol production from sugarcane is to separate the sucrose-containing juice from the remainder of the cane, mainly fibre. The two currents, products of this process, are the juice and the bagasse.

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Reveals FLS2‐Dependent Hypoxia Signaling and ERF13‐Mediated Transcription During flg22‐Triggered Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs sc‐RNA sequencing, genetics, and phenotyping to systematically map the cell‐type‐specific immune responses triggered by flg22. It reveals FLS2‐dependent transcriptional reprogramming in epidermal and mesophyll cells, and uncovers crosstalk between immune and hypoxia signaling pathways.

Efficiency Improvement in Sugar Mills through Bagasse Gasification

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2021
Biomass energy is useful in mitigating greenhouse gases as biomass growth captures CO2 from the atmosphere. This captured CO2 is eventually released upon the use of these biomass feedstocks, leading to a short duration carbon cycle. One prominent biomass

Model Predictive Control System Analysis for Sugarcane Crushing Mill Process

open access: yesBulletin of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, 2015
MPC is a computer based technique that requires the process model to anticipate the future outputs of that process. An optimal control action is taken by MPC based on this prediction. The MPC is so popular since its control performance has been reported to be best among other conventional techniques to control the multivariable dynamical plants with ...

A Fast Method for Selecting Bio Sourced Materials of Interest in a Candle Formulation

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As consumer demand shifts towards more sustainable and nontoxic alternatives, the candle industry is exploring unconventional bio‐based and recycled materials as substitutes for paraffin. Four raw materials, that is rice bran wax (RBW), sugarcane wax (SCW), hydrogenated rapeseed oil (HRO), and waste cooking oil (WCO) were assessed based on ...
