A low-cost, long-term and maintenance-free method was put forward to treat simulation of copper-containing pit wastewater which has caused a widespread environmental problem in Yunnan Province, China. The objective of this work was to investigate the treatment of low concentrations of Cu2+ in the mine pit water with sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB ...

Sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) can be used as an alternative biotechnology to promote passive treatment of industrial effluents. Treatment efficiency however depends on pH and metals content of the effluent and also on the quantity of organic matter available. As COD/sulfate ratio varies, sulfate consumption changes.

A peculiar cathodic process during iron and steel corrosion in sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) media
Corrosion Science, 2010Abstract Features related to the cathodic reduction of iron sulfides precipitation on iron surface during its exposure to SRB culture were studied. Electrochemical measurements were performed with pure iron and platinum electrodes plated with a thin iron film in de-aerated SRB culture.

Biocorrosion is a process induced by microorganisms such as sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), which are able to reduce sulfate to sulfide under different environmental conditions. Such biocorrosive ability renders these microorganisms highly important on a biotechnological scope.

In this article, zinc and aluminum coatings were deposited on plain carbon structural steel (Q235) substrates by electric arc spraying. The coatings were then pore-sealed with a silicone resin to enhance their corrosion performance. The latter was tested in seawater containing sulfate-reducing bacteria by open circuit potential, potentiodynamic ...

The spatio-temporal distribution of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in the microbial mat of Camargue (Salins-de-Giraud, France) was investigated by molecular approaches at both microscale spatial resolution and different taxonomic organization levels. The vertical distribution of the SRB populations was correlated with oxygen and sulfide microgradient ...

Abstract Generally speaking, a much higher concentration of biocide is needed to treat biofilms compared to the dosage used to for planktonic bacteria. With increasing restrictions of environmental regulations and safety concerns on large-scale biocide uses such as oil field applications, it is highly desirable to make more effective use of biocides.

A novel strategy by combination of surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and in situ chemical oxidative graft polymerization was employed to tether stainless steel (SS) with poly(4-vinylaniline)-polyaniline (PVAn-PANI) bilayer coatings for mitigating biocorrosion by sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in seawater.

Zinc percipitation using sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) in anaerobic column system
Most existing physical and chemical treatment technologies for zine are stationary. They required space and time to construct with high operating and miaintenance cost. Stationary treatment plant would not be able to work effectively in the remote area due to the lack of resources to maintain the full efficiency. This research was conducted to find theopenaire +1 more source
