Isolation and characterization of Alicycliphilus denitrificans strain BC, which grows on benzene with chlorate as the electron acceptor [PDF]
A bacterium, strain BC, was isolated from a benzene-degrading chlorate-reducing enrichment culture. Strain BC degrades benzene in conjunction with chlorate reduction.

Methanogenic potential and microbial community of anaerobic batch reactors at different ethylamine/sulfate ratios [PDF]
Methylamine and sulfate are compounds commonly found in wastewaters. This study aimed to determine the methanogenic potential of anaerobic reactors containing these compounds and to correlate it with their microbial communities.

The cGAS‐STING pathway boosts HCC antitumor immunity but lacks specific activation. Nanoplatform ZMRPF induces HCC ferroptosis via lipid ROS, releasing mtDNA. It synergizes with ZMRPF‐released Mn2⁺ to activate cGAS‐STING, amplifies antigen‐presenting cell activity, reverses HCC immunosuppression, and enables robust systemic antitumor immunity ...

Diversity of corrosive aggressive bacteria in soils of different biotopes
Dissemination of corrosive-aggressive bacteria in soils from different biotopes under man-caused load was investigated. In the man-caused biotopes there were 2–3 degree more of the sulfate-reducing bacteria, 1–2 degreeless nitrogen-fixing bacteria, and 2–

A new class of living liquid metal composites is introduced, embedding Bacillus subtilis endospores into eutectic gallium–indium (EGaIn). The spores enhance droplet coalescence, strengthen interfacial conductivity, and provide on‐demand electrogenic functionality after germination. The composites exhibit high conductivity, self‐healing, patternability,

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Effect of Ethanol on Microbial Community Structure and Function During Natural Attenuation of Benzene, Toluene, and \u3cem\u3eo\u3c/em\u3e-Xylene in a Sulfate-reducing Aquifer [PDF]
Ethanol (EtOH) is a commonly used fuel oxygenate in reformulated gasoline and is an alternative fuel and fuel supplement. Effects of EtOH release on aquifer microbial ecology and geochemistry have not been well characterized in situ.
