Electron beam recrystallization of amorphous semiconductor materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Nucleation and growth of crystalline films of silicon, germanium, and cadmium sulfide on substrates of plastic and glass were investigated. Amorphous films of germanium, silicon, and cadmium sulfide on amorphous substrates of glass and plastic were ...

Sulfide- and nitrite-dependent nitric oxide production in the intestinal tract [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In the gut ecosystem, nitric oxide (NO) has been described to have damaging effects on the energy metabolism of colonocytes. Described mechanisms of NO production are microbial reduction of nitrate via nitrite to NO and conversion of l-arginine by NO ...

New insights into the chemistry of thiolate-protected palladium nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper establishes the chemical nature of Pd nanoparticles protected by alkanethiolates that were prepared through a ligand place-exchange approach and the two-phase method, first developed for Au nanoparticles by Brust and Schiffrin.

In‐Situ Growth of 2D MOFs as a Molecular Sieving Layer on SnS2 Nanoflakes for Realizing Ultraselective H2S Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The ultraselective H2S detection of the ZIF‐L/SnS2 heterostructure is demonstrated. The introduction of 2‐dimensional (2D) breathable ZIF‐L results in a substantial increase in H2S selectivity attributable to the molecular sieving effect, which impedes the permeation of gases with large kinetic diameters and high polarity.

Thermally Induced Gelling Systems Based on Patchy Polymeric Micelles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
A novel strategy to design thermally induced gelling systems with tunable material properties is reported. Polymeric mixed‐shell micelles displaying multiple thermosensitive patchy domains formed hydrogels by assembling into well‐entangled worm‐like network structures upon heating to body temperature. The patchy micelle design significantly affects the

Achieving three-dimensional lithium sulfide growth in lithium-sulfur batteries using high-donor-number anions

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Uncontrolled growth of insulating lithium sulfide leads to passivation of sulfur cathodes, which limits high sulfur utilization in lithium-sulfur batteries.

Multi‐Pathway Upconversion Emission in Symmetry‐Broken Nanocavities: Broadband Multiresonant Enhancement and Anti‐Correlated Interfacial Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Symmetry‐broken plasmonic nanoantenna arrays achieve broadband multiresonant enhancement of second harmonic generation (SHG), third harmonic generation (THG), and upconversion photoluminescence (UCPL), under femtosecond laser excitation across the near‐infrared range (1000–1600 nm).
