Bis(stearoyl) Sulfide: A Stable, Odor-free Sulfur Precursor for High-Efficiency Metal Sulfide Quantum Dot Photovoltaics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The synthesis of metal sulfide nanocrystals is a crucial step in the fabrication of quantum dot (QD) photovoltaics. Control over the quantum dot size during synthesis allows for precise tuning of their optical and electronic properties, making them an appealing choice for electronic applications.

Accelerated Kinetics of Desolvation and Redox Transformation Enabled by MOF Sieving for High‐Loading Mg‐S Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A strategy of sieving catalysis based on the MIL‐101(Cr) with multistage pore structure and Lewis acid sites has been proposed as the catalyst to accelerate the kinetics of desolvation and redox conversion of sulfur species, achieving high performance Mg‐S batteries.

Intermediate Phases, structural variance and network demixing in chalcogenides: the unusual case of group V sulfides

open access: yes, 2008
We review Intermediate Phases (IPs) in chalcogenide glasses and provide a structural interpretation of these phases. In binary group IV selenides, IPs reside in the 2.40 < r < 2.54 range, and in binary group V selenides they shift to a lower r, in the 2 ...

Thiol‐Modulation‐Induced Mesoporous Nanosheets with an Alloy/Intermetallic Heterophase for Efficient Electrochemical Ethylene Glycol‐Assisted Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfur‐capped mesoporous PtPbBi nanosheets (S‐PtPbBi MNSs) with an alloy/intermetallic compound heterophase and inhomogeneous tensile strain (≈3%) were synthesized by a thiol modification strategy, which exhibited excellent electrocatalytic performance for ethylene glycol oxidation reaction (EGOR).

Quantum Dots and Perovskites‐Based Physically Unclonable Functions for Binary and Ternary Keys via Optical‐to‐Electrical Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates optoelectronic PUFs that improve on traditional optical and electrical PUFs. The absorber materials are randomly coated through spray coating, ligand exchange, and dynamic spin coating. Incident light generates wavelength‐dependent binary multikey and enhances security ternary keys, approaching near‐ideal inter‐ and intra ...

Modelling anaerobic sulfide removal by sulfide shuttling bacteria

open access: yesBioresource Technology
Sulfide oxidizing bacteria are used in industrial biodesulfurization processes to convert sulfide to sulfur. These bacteria can spatially separate sulfide removal from terminal electron transfer, thereby acting as sulfide shuttles. The mechanisms underlying sulfide shuttling are not yet clear. In this work, newly obtained sulfide removal data were used

Heterostructured Sn:SnO2 Nanodots for High‐Performance Li–S Batteries with Kinetics‐Enhanced Cathode and Dendrite‐Free Anode

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heterostructured Sn:SnO2 nanodots decorated on reduced graphene oxide can simultaneously enhance conversion kinetics and inhibit dendrite growth, enabling stable lithium–sulfur batteries. Abstract The practical application of lithium–sulfur batteries is limited by polysulfide shuttling and sluggish reaction kinetics at the cathode, as well as ...
