Abstract Life in the sulfide system requires the ability to withstand the toxic effects of long-term sulfide stress. The adaptations of sulfide-system interstitial metazoans to sulfide stress have been investigated using 35 S-sulfide. One possible adaptation, the total exclusion of sulfide at the body wall, could not be demonstrated.

Fabrication of Ni Sulfides by Thermal Sulfidation

The microstructure of Ni sulfides prepared by thermal sulfidation of pure Ni and their dependence of fabrication parameters were investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractions. Sulfidation was made by isothermally annealing Ni with the sulfur in vacuum sealed glass ampoules at 673 K for 120 – 600s under the sulfur pressure

A Sulfide Oxidase Biosensor for Monitoring Sulfide

Abstract A sulfide oxidase enzyme electrode is proposed for monitoring of biogenic sulfide resulting from the activities of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB). The enzyme which is immobilized in a carbon (graphite) paste with 1,1’ dimethylferrocene, catalyses the oxidation of sulfide to sulfur.

Chemisorption of hydrogen sulfide on lead sulfide

The hydrogen sulfide chemisorption on lead sulfide at 22–100°C is studied by static testing in a vacuum and by pulsed chromatography. It is established that H2S is sorbed in reversible and irreversible forms and that the process is accompanied by the sample charging.
