Preparation and characterization of monovalent cation selective sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) and poly(ether sulfone) composite membranes

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2006
Highly charged cation permeable composite membranes were prepared by blending of sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) (SPES) with sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) in 0 to 90% weight ratio, to adjust the hydrophobic properties and ion selective nature. Extent of sulfonation was confirmed by 1H NMR and ion exchange capacity and degree of sulfonation

Thermal degradation of sulfonated poly(aryl ether ether ketone)

Journal of Analytical and Applied Pyrolysis, 1995
The thermal degradation of sulfonated poly(aryl ether ether ketone) (SPEEK), with various degrees of sulfonation, was investigated by high resolution pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) and thermogravimetry (TG). It was found that the pyrogram of SPEEK is similar to that of poly(aryl ether ether ketone) (PEEK), but that the ...

Synthesis and structural properties of sulfonated poly ether ether ketone (SPEEK) and Poly ether ether ketone (PEEK)

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020
Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is one of the most important aromatic polymers; it has many applications in nanotechnology. The new sulfonated polyether ether ketone (sPEEK) membrane was successfully prepared, by using sulfonation processed for PEEK polymer; 10 grams of PEEK sample were dissolved progressively in 200 ml of sulfuric acid (H2SO4).

Sulfonated poly(ether sulfone ether ketone ketone)/sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) blend membranes with reduced methanol permeability

High Performance Polymers, 2012
Proton exchange membranes were prepared by blending sulfonated poly(ether sulfone ether ketone ketone) (SPESEKK) with sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) (SPES). The morphology, tensile strength, proton conductivity and methanol permeability of the blend membranes were investigated.

Cation permeable membranes from blends of sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) and poly(ether sulfone)

Journal of Membrane Science, 2002
Sulfonated poly(aryl ether ether ketone), S-PEEK, is blended with non-sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) (PES) to adjust the properties of ion permeable and ion selective membranes. In this study, membranes are prepared from blends with (i) a S-PEEK content between 10 and 100 wt.% using one S-PEEK batch with a fixed degree of sulfonation and (ii) from ...

Biofilm behavior on sulfonated poly(ether-ether-ketone) (sPEEK)

Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2017
Poly(ether-ether-ketone) (PEEK) has also shown to be very attractive for incorporating therapeutic compounds thanks to a sulfonation process which modifies the material structure resulting in a sulfonated-PEEK (sPEEK). Concerning biomedical applications, the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of different sulfonation degree of sPEEK ...

Synthesis and properties of poly(ether ether ketone ketone)‐poly(ether sulfone) block copolymers

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1996
Poly(ether ether ketone ketone)-poly(ether sulfone) (PEEKK/PES) block copolymers were prepared from the corresponding oligomers via a nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction, and the M n of the PEEKK segment was fixed at 12,000, while the M n 's of the PES segment ranged from 250 to 12,680.

Preparation and characterization of poly(ether sulfone)/sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) blend membranes

European Polymer Journal, 2006
Abstract Polymer blends of sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) and poly(ether sulfone) (PES) in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) were prepared by solution casting. The investigation on water uptake, methanol uptake, permeability and proton conductivity has been conducted. The spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame ( T 1 ρ

Compatibility in immiscible poly(ether ether ketone)/poly(ether sulfone) blends

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1995
AbstractBoth as‐molded and annealed poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK)/poly(ether sulfone) (PES) blends have been prepared by direct injection molding. The system has been found to be immiscible at all compositions; however, as a result mainly of the produced morphology, it surprisingly maintains to a very great extent the excellent mechanical performance

Synthesis and properties of novel random copolymers of poly(ether ketone ether ketone ketone)–poly(ether ketone sulfone imide)

High Performance Polymers, 2013
The monomer containing sulfone and imide linkages, namely bis[4-( p-phenoxybenzoyl)-1,2-benzenedioyl]- N, N, N′, N′-4,4′-diaminodiphenyl sulfone (BPBDADPS), was prepared by the Friedel–Crafts reaction of bis(4-chloroformyl-1,2-benzenedioyl)- N, N, N′, N′-4,4′-diaminodiphenyl sulfone with diphenyl ether.
