Compatibility in immiscible poly(ether ether ketone)/poly(ether sulfone) blends

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1995
AbstractBoth as‐molded and annealed poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK)/poly(ether sulfone) (PES) blends have been prepared by direct injection molding. The system has been found to be immiscible at all compositions; however, as a result mainly of the produced morphology, it surprisingly maintains to a very great extent the excellent mechanical performance

Synthesis and properties of poly(ether ether ketone ketone)‐poly(ether sulfone) block copolymers

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1996
Poly(ether ether ketone ketone)-poly(ether sulfone) (PEEKK/PES) block copolymers were prepared from the corresponding oligomers via a nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction, and the M n of the PEEKK segment was fixed at 12,000, while the M n 's of the PES segment ranged from 250 to 12,680.

Preparation and characterization of poly(ether sulfone)/sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) blend membranes

European Polymer Journal, 2006
Abstract Polymer blends of sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) and poly(ether sulfone) (PES) in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) were prepared by solution casting. The investigation on water uptake, methanol uptake, permeability and proton conductivity has been conducted. The spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame ( T 1 ρ

Proton-exchange Sulfonated Poly(ether ether ketone)/Sulfonated Phenolphthalein Poly(ether sulfone) Blend Membranes in DMFCs

Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2009
Abstract A sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) membrane with fairly high degree of sulfonation (DS) swells excessively and even dissolves at high temperature. To solve these problems, sulfonated phenolphthalein poly(ether sulfone) (SPES-C, DS53.7%) is blended with the SPEEK matrix (DS55.1%, 61.7%) to prepare SPEEK/SPES-C blend membrane.

Poly(ether ether ketone)/poly(aryl ether sulfone) blends: Melt rheological behavior

Journal of Polymer Science Part B: Polymer Physics, 2004
AbstractDynamic rheological measurements were carried out on blends of poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK)/poly(aryl ether sulfone) (PES) in the melt state in the oscillatory shear mode. The data were analyzed for the fundamental rheological behavior to yield insight into the microstructure of PEEK/PES blends.

Crystallization behaviour of poly(ether ether ketone)/poly(ether sulfone) block copolymer

Polymer, 1996
The crystallization and melting behaviours of a multiblock copolymer comprising poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) and poly(ether sulfone) (PES) blocks whose number average molecular weights were 10 000 and 2900, respectively, were studied. The effect of thermal history on crystallization was investigated by wide-angle X-ray diffraction measurement.

Sodium sulfonate-functionalized poly(ether ether ketone)s

Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics, 1998
A new monomer, sodium 5,5'-carbonylbis(2-fluorobenzenesulfonate) (1), was synthesized by sulfonation of 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone (2) with fuming sulfuric acid. Poly(ether ether ketone)s containing sodium sulfonate groups were synthesized directly via aromatic nucleophilic substitution from the sodium sulfonate-functionalized monomer 1 and Bisphenol A (

Poly(vinylbenzyl sulfonic acid)-grafted poly(ether ether ketone) membranes

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2014
Abstract In this study, an aromatic hydrocarbon based polymer electrolyte membrane, poly(vinylbenzyl sulfonic acid)-grafted poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK- g -PVBSA), has been prepared by the simultaneous irradiation grafting of vinylbenzyl chloride (VBC) monomer onto a PEEK film and subsequent sulfonation.

Sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) and sulfonated poly(1,4-phenylene ether ether sulfone) membranes for vanadium redox flow batteries

High Performance Polymers, 2012
Nafion is a currently used as a proton exchange membrane in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRBs). It is an excellent proton-conducting and fully hydrated membrane, but it is costly. In order to reduce the cost of the membrane used in VRBs and to reduce vanadium permeability across the membrane, sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (S-PEEK) and ...
