Nanocomposite membrane by incorporating graphene oxide in sulfonated polyether ether ketone for direct methanol fuel cell

open access: yesMaterials Today: Proceedings, 2021
Abstract Few-layers graphene oxide enriched with oxygen functional groups is successfully obtained and incorporated into sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) matrix. The functional groups and the surface modification of membranes were identified using FTIR spectroscopy, and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). Subsequently, FESEM was employed

Highly Sulfonated Poly(Ether Ether Ketone) Blend with Hydrophobic Polyether Sulfone as an Alternative Electrolyte for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell

open access: yesArabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2020
Highly sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (sPEEK) offers high proton conductivity but lacks in mechanical stability due to poor swelling degree. Therefore, a promising approach has been introduced in this study by incorporating the hydrophobic polyether sulfone (PES) into sPEEK matrix. The effect of incorporating PES at various composition contents (5,

Mild sulfonated polyether ketone ether ketone ketone incorporated polysulfone membranes for microbial fuel cell application

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, 2020
AbstractTo address the impediments of low power generation of Nafion, which is the main hurdle in the commercialization of microbial fuel cells (MFC), the current study focuses on developing a new PEM for MFC from mild sulfonation of PEKEKK with relatively improved physiochemical properties.

Sulfonated polyether ether ketone based composite polymer electrolyte membranes

Catalysis Today, 2001
Electrochemical properties of a series of composite membranes prepared by incorporation of boron phosphate into polymeric matrix of sulfonated PEEK were studied. The conductivity of the composites was found to exceed largely that of pure SPEEK polymer. It was however lower than predicted by the effective medium theory for these mixtures.

Proton Conducting Electrolyte Membranes based on Tungsten Oxide and Sulfonated Polyether Ether Ketone Hybrid Composites

open access: yesMRS Proceedings, 2005
ABSTRACTComposite membranes, prepared by mixing sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) and WO3·2H2O in dimethylacetamide, were characterized by Thermogravimetry, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and Water Uptake measurements to evaluate their possible performance as proton exchange membranes (PEM).

Proton conducting composite membranes from sulfonated polyether ether ketone and SiO2

Journal Wuhan University of Technology, Materials Science Edition, 2009
Proton conducting composite membranes from sulfonated polyether ether ketone and SiO2 for direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) application were prepared with sulfonated polyether ether ketone(SPEEK) and tetracethoxy silane(TEOS) by sol-gel method. The covalent crosslinking structure was formed between —SO3H of SPEEK via SiO2.
