Proton Conducting Electrolyte Membranes based on Tungsten Oxide and Sulfonated Polyether Ether Ketone Hybrid Composites

MRS Proceedings, 2005
ABSTRACTComposite membranes, prepared by mixing sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) and WO3·2H2O in dimethylacetamide, were characterized by Thermogravimetry, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and Water Uptake measurements to evaluate their possible performance as proton exchange membranes (PEM).

Electrochemically reduced graphene oxide / sulfonated polyether ether ketone composite membrane for electrochemical applications

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013
A simple and effective method for the preparation of sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) based composites with electrochemical reduced graphene oxide (EGO) as inorganic fillers has been described. The resulting dispersions are homogeneous and the cast membranes show significant improvement on tensile strength and thermal properties.

Improving Blood Compatibility of Polyethersulfone Hollow Fiber Membranes via Blending with Sulfonated Polyether Ether Ketone

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, 2016
Appropriate membrane for blood contacting applications requires hemocompatibility and high permeation flux; it should inhibit proteins or platelets adsorption and still possess high permeability. Aiming to improve the polyethersulfone (PES) hollow fiber membrane hemocompatibility, sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) is self‐synthesized in the ...

Sulfonated polyether ether ketone membranes cured with different methods for direct methanol fuel cells

Journal of Materials Science Letters, 2003
Direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC) have attracted considerable attention, since they offer numerous benefits, such as high efficiency, high power density, low or zero emissions and reliability. The proton exchange membrane (PEM) is one of the most critical components in the direct methanol fuel cell. Generally, PEMs with high proton conductivity and low

Electrical properties of sulfonated polyether ether ketone/polyetherimide blend membranes doped with inorganic acids

Journal of Polymer Science, Part B: Polymer Physics, 2000
The influence of blending with polyetherimide (PEI) and doping with HCl and H3PO4 on the properties of sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) was studied. Blending with PEI first results in an increase and then in a decrease in membrane swelling at PEI concentrations greater than 5%.

The improved interface performance between carbon fiber and poly(ether‐ether‐ketone) by sulfonated polyether sulfone (s‐PSF) sizing agent with different sulfonation degree

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2020
AbstractThe effects of sulfonated polyether sulfone (s‐PSF) with different sulfonation degrees on the interfacial properties of carbon fiber (CF)/poly(ether‐ether‐ketone) (PEEK) composites were investigated systematically. The performance of the modified CF and the corresponding CF/PEEK composites and was tested and characterized.

Study of sulfonated polyether ether ketone with pendant lithiated fluorinated sulfonic groups as ion conductive binder in lithium-ion batteries

Journal of Power Sources, 2014
In an attempt to reduce the Li+ concentration polarization and electrolyte depletion from the electrode porous space, sulfonated polyether ether ketone with pendant lithiated fluorinated sulfonic groups (SPEEK-FSA-Li) is prepared and attempted as ionic conductivity binder.

Morphology Effect on Proton Dynamics in Nafion®117 and Sulfonated Polyether Ether Ketone

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 2016
We report results of our experimental and theoretical studies on the dynamics of proton conductivity in Nafion® 117 and self-fabricated sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) membranes. Knowing that the presence of water molecules in the diffusion process results in a lower energy barrier, we determined the diffusion barriers and corresponding ...
