Sulfonation of dialdehyde cellulose extracted from sugarcane bagasse for synergistically enhanced water solubility.

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2019
Sulfonated cellulose (SC) was successfully derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) extracted from sugarcane bagasse, which is a type of agricultural waste.

Sulfonation of Phenolated Kraft Lignin to Produce Water Soluble Products

Journal of wood chemistry and technology, 2019
Kraft lignin is water insoluble and has limited end-use applications. To produce water soluble lignin-based products, the modification of softwood kraft lignin through phenolation followed by sulfonation of sulfuric acid or sodium sulfite treatment were ...

Amphiphilic perfluoroalkylated sulfones and sulfonate betaines

Journal of Fluorine Chemistry, 2007
Abstract Two types of perfluoro alkyl-containing amphiphilic sulfones 7 – 9 and 13 – 15 , respectively, and sulfonate betaines 23 – 32 were prepared using 2-[(perfluoroalkyl)methyl]oxiranes ( 1–3 , R F  = C 4 F 9 , C 6 F 13 , C 8 F 17 ) or 3-(perfluoroalkyl)propyl iodides ( 16 and 17 , R F  = C 6 F 13 , C 8 F 17 ) as the starting compounds ...

Aromatic sulfonation XI: Sulfonation of benzene and toluene with sulfur trioxide; sulfone formation and sulfonic acid isomer distribution.

Recueil des Travaux Chimiques des Pays-Bas, 1964
AbstractThe sulfonation of benzene and toluene with sulfur trioxide without solvent has been studied extensively. With benzene at low conversion benzenesulfonic acid and diphenylsulfone are the only products. At 25° the sulfone: sulfonic acid ratio changes from 0.2 to 0.6 on varying the SO3 : C6H6 ratio from 0.13 to 1.3.

The metabolism of the surfactants dodecyl sulfonate and hexadecyl sulfonate in the rat

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1978
Abstract When [1-14C]dodecyl sulfonate and [1-14C]hexadecyl sulfonate were administered orally and ip to free-ranging rats and iv to anesthetized rats, the major route of excretion of radioactivity was urinary. Small amounts only of parent surfactant appeared in the feces of animals dosed orally with [1-14C]dodecyl sulfonate, but large amounts of [1 ...

Study on phenol sulfonation by concentrated sulfuric acid: Kinetics and process optimization

Chemical Engineering and Science, 2019
Sulfonation process usually exhibit high reaction rate and low yield and selectivity of product in common reactors for its insufficient micromixing. This work employed a rotating packed bed (RPB) to intensify the micromixing of the phenol sulfonation ...

Dioxygen mediated hydroacylation of vinyl sulfonates and sulfones on water

Chem. Commun., 2010
Herein we report a mild, facile method for the preparation of 1,4-keto-sulfonates and sulfones on water. Further synthetic manipulations can result in products that are not readily accessed by hydroacylation of electron rich alkenes.
