A Dual‐Functional Biohybrid Nanorobot to Synergistically Eradicate Biofilm and Degrade Antibiotic Resistance Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biohybrid nanorobot integrating lytic bacteriophage N4 with Pd nanozymes is developed for targeted eradication of multidrug‐resistant E. coli biofilms. Synergistic bacterial lysis and ROS‐mediated oxidation enable simultaneous biofilm removal and antibiotic resistance genes degradation, maintaining high efficacy in complex wastewater environments ...

Enhancement of Copper Availability and Microbial Community Changes in Rice Rhizospheres Affected by Sulfur

open access: yesMolecules, 2011
The role of sulfur on the availability of Cu and the bacterial community in rice rhizospheres was investigated by pot experiments. With sulfur addition, pH in rhizosphere soil decreased and Mg(NO3)2 extractable Cu increased significantly.

Barite encrustation of benthic sulfur‐oxidizing bacteria at a marine cold seep [PDF]

open access: yesGeobiology, 2015
AbstractCrusts and chimneys composed of authigenic barite are found at methane seeps and hydrothermal vents that expel fluids rich in barium. Microbial processes have not previously been associated with barite precipitation in marine cold seep settings. Here, we report on the precipitation of barite on filaments of sulfide‐oxidizing bacteria at a brine

Biochemical Evidence for formate transfer in syntrophic propionate oxidizing cocultures of Syntrophobacter fumaroxidans and Methanospirillum hungatei

open access: yes, 2002
The hydrogenase and formate dehydrogenase levels in Syntrophobacter fumaroxidans and Methanospirillum hungatei were studied in syntrophic propionate-oxidizing cultures and compared to the levels in axenic cultures of both organisms.

Control of primary productivity and the significance of photosynthetic bacteria in a meromictic kettle lake. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
During 1986 planktonic primary production and controlling factors were investigated in a small (A0 = 11.8 · 103 m2, Zmax = 11.5 m) meromictic kettle lake (Mittlerer Buchensee).

Temporal–Spatial Variations in Microbial Diversity and Community Composition in Surface Waters and Bottom Sediments of the Bohai Sea, China

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Temporal variation in microbial communities is critical for sustainable utilization of marine biological resources and ecological restoration. However, microbial communities in China’s Bohai Sea remain inadequately characterized. This study employed high-

H2S‐Amplified “Three‐in‐One” Antibacterial Strategy for Periodontitis Treatment Using a Photosensitive Pillararene‐Embedded COF/MOF Hybrid

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The integration of ROS‐generating systems with H2S depletion strategies effectively overcomes the limitations imposed by endogenous antioxidant defenses on ROS‐based antimicrobial therapies. In this study, the Cu‐MOF is incorporated into pillararene‐embedded COF, achieving a “three‐in‐one” antimicrobial effect that markedly alleviated periodontal ...

Potential Fossilized Sulfide-Oxidizing Bacteria in the Upper Miocene Sulfur-Bearing Limestones From the Lorca Basin (SE Spain): Paleoenvironmental Implications

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
The sulfur-bearing limestones interbedded in the upper Miocene diatomaceous sediments (Tripoli Formation) of the Lorca Basin (SE Spain) are typified, as other Mediterranean coeval carbonate and gypsum deposits, by filamentous, circular and rod-shaped ...
