Synergistic Interfacial Optimization for High-Sulfur-Content All-Solid-State Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yes
Improving the sulfur content in the cathode is essential for achieving high-energy-density all-solid-state lithium–sulfur batteries (ASSLSBs). However, the complex multiinterfaces, akin to the short wooden planks that consist of the cask, severely limit ...

Laser‐Assisted Phase Engineering of 2D MoS2 for Efficient Solution‐Processed Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Here, local laser‐assisted phase transition from solution‐processed phase‐pure 1T′ to 2H MoS2 is shown to critically depend on the irradiation atmosphere. While processing in air leads to damaged insulating regions, inert conditions yield semiconducting 2H domains, enabling direct field‐effect transistor patterning with optimized lateral 1T′‐2H MoS2 ...

The Marine Organic Sulfur Cycle

open access: yesAnnual Review of Marine Science
Organic sulfur (OS) in the ocean is produced in vast quantities by primary producers that fix inorganic sulfate into proteins, metabolites, and other ubiquitous biomolecules. As biogenic OS is transported and transformed through the marine environment, it is joined by OS from two additional sources: abiogenic OS from sulfurization under anoxic ...

A Geometrically Transient Platform for Bioelectronic Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Minimally invasive bioelectronic implants often compromise performance for smaller sizes. To resolve this optimization dilemma, a wireless bioelectronic implant with a transient geometry is introduced (MiFi). The origami‐inspired device miniaturizes up to sixfold for syringe insertion and autonomously unfolds post‐implantation.

Sulfur-graphene nanostructured cathodes via ball-milling for high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries

open access: yes, 2014
Although much progress has been made to develop high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs), the reported physical or chemical routes to sulfur cathode materials are often multistep/complex and even involve environmentally hazardous reagents, and ...
