Does a Morphotropic Phase Boundary Exist in ZrxHf1‐xO2‐Based Thin Films?
This study investigates 6 nm zirconium‐rich hafnium‐zirconium oxide thin–film metal–insulator–metal capacitors using a combination of experimental methods and machine learning–based molecular dynamics simulations to provide insight into the physical mechanisms that enhance the dielectric constant near 0 V and attribute it to the field‐induced ...

Characterization of uncertainties in atmospheric trace gas inversions using hierarchical Bayesian methods [PDF]
We present a hierarchical Bayesian method for atmospheric trace gas inversions. This method is used to estimate emissions of trace gases as well as "hyper-parameters" that characterize the probability density functions (PDFs) of the a priori emissions ...

Scalable Thermal Engineering via Femtosecond Laser‐Direct‐Written Phononic Nanostructures
This study demonstrates that femtosecond laser‐induced periodic surface structures (fs‐LIPSS) can function as phononic metasurfaces, reducing thermal conductivity below the plain thin‐film limit. Phonon Monte Carlo analysis reveals that the periodic structures restrict phonon mean free paths.

Three-dimensional shock-sulfur hexafluoride bubble interaction
The evolution of shock-sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) bubble interaction is investigated using a detailed three-dimensional numerical simulation. The influences of the end wall distance on the bubble evolution are analyzed by using the high-resolution ...

Using CFCs and SF6 for groundwater dating : a SWOT analysis [PDF]
A knowledge of the residence time of groundwater is of importance in understanding key issues in the evolution of water quality. Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) offer a convenient way of dating waters up to ~60 yrs old.

European Ports as Energy Hubs: A Sustainability Index to Assess Territorial Development
ABSTRACT The capacity of ports to act as energy hubs is increasingly relevant in light of sustainability challenges and global crises like the Ukraine conflict, the COVID‐19 pandemic and energy scarcity. Numerous international and national initiatives are shaping the future of port development to address environmental and economic concerns.

Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) emissions in East Asia determined by inverse modeling [PDF]
Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) has a global warming potential of around 22 800 over a 100-year time horizon and is one of the greenhouse gases regulated under the Kyoto Protocol. Around the year 2000 there was a reversal in the global SF6 emission trend, from

The late-time development of the Richtmyer–Meshkov instability [PDF]
Measurements have been made of the growth by the Richtmyer–Meshkov instability of nominally single-scale perturbations on an air/sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) interface in a large shock tube.
