Proteome Analysis of Corynebacterium diphtheriae–Macrophage Interaction

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Contact of Corynebacterium diphtheriae with macrophages induces adaptations on both bacterial and cellular sides. The study presented here was aiming to shed light on the simultaneous intracellular adaptation of the bacteria and changes in the proteome of the phagocytes in response to the internalization of C. diphtheriae.

Field investigation of glucosinolates and morphological traits in mitigating Psylliodes chrysocephala larval infestation through crop varieties and companion planting

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Genotype and cropping system influenced oilseed rape ecophysiological traits, including glucosinolate compounds (glucoraphanin, glucobrassicanapin, and butyl‐glucosinolates) and biomass, which were linked to Psylliodes chrysocephala larval infestation, with varietal effects stronger than faba bean companion planting.

The Role of Energy Transition, Digitalization, and Green Goods in Material Footprints and Sustainability

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how green and non‐green goods, energy transition, digitalization, economic growth, and population affect the material footprint of G‐7 countries from 1990 to 2023. Using an extended STIRPAT framework, we show that green and non‐green goods increase material footprint, demonstrating the resource intensity associated with

Low Temperature Site‐Specific Pulsed Laser Annealing of MoS2

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The application of laser pulses, of extremely short duration, is investigated as a potential new method to modify the atomic structure of ultrathin 2D materials for use in the creation of future electrical devices. The process is efficient, offering a site‐specific functionality, where regions of an electronic device that only requires annealing is ...

Efficient Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution Enabled by Defect‐ and Interface‐Induced Dual Built‐in Electric Fields in a ZnIn2S4/1T‐2H WS2 Heterojunction

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
An N, Sv‐ZnIn2S4/1T‐2H WS2 composite photocatalyst is constructed via an in situ hydrothermal‐solvothermal strategy, simultaneously forming a defect‐induced p‐n homojunction in ZnIn2S4 and a type‐II heterojunction with hybrid 1T/2H WS2. The coupled dual built‐in electric fields promote charge separation and direct photoexcited electrons toward sulfur ...

Toward Efficient and Reliable Chemical Upgrading Using Solid Oxide Electrochemical Reactors, Mechanisms, Challenges, and Design Principles

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Solid oxide electrochemical reactors (SOERs) offer a compelling pathway for coupling renewable electricity with chemical manufacturing, but their real application is still limited by low efficiency and instability. This review systematically summarizes SOER reaction mechanisms, performance‐limiting factors, and recent progress toward high‐efficiency ...

Preliminary Study on Unit Commitment for Renewable Energy Integration Considering Operation Cost and Life Cycle Assessment

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, EarlyView.
Most countries, including Japan, are focused on achieving net‐zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, which requires quick action. Despite the increasing level of renewable power generation in power grids, fossil fuel power plants still have a significant role in producing GHG emissions, causing serious environmental issues.

Micronuclei and Other Nuclear Abnormalities in Patella Limpet as Biomarkers of Cytogenotoxicity in Recreational Port Waters

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Over the past decades, the growth in human population and economic activities has led to an increase in maritime traffic. This rise puts additional pressure on marine environments, vessel fuel spills being considered to have a major impact on the ecosystem.
