Combined Gravimetric, Electrochemical, and Computational Research on Benzothiophene Derivatives as Effective Corrosion Inhibitors for Mild Steel

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Four benzothiophenes, thianaphthene (BT‐1), 3‐bromothianaphthene (BT‐2), benzo[b]thiophene‐2‐carboxaldehyde (BT‐3), and benzo[b]thiophene‐2‐carbonitrile (BT‐4), were tested as mild steel corrosion inhibitors in 1‐M HCl. The compounds have the similar benzothiophene core but differ in the substituents bound to the ring.

Biosulfidogenesis Mediates Natural Attenuation in Acidic Mine Pit Lakes

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
Acidic pit lakes are abandoned open pit mines filled with acid mine drainage (AMD)—highly acidic, metalliferous waters that pose a severe threat to the environment and are rarely properly remediated.

Sulfur from the Stari trg mine, Kosovo

open access: yesNatura Croatica : Periodicum Musei Historiae Naturalis Croatici, 1992
Sphalerite, pyrite, bournonite, boulangerite, anglesite and sulfur were determinated on one sample of the ore deposit of Stari Trg mine, kept in collection of Department of Mineralogy and Petrography, Croatian Natural History Museum. Relation of the deposition of found minerals was determinated. Sulfur was deposited as fine powder coatings and as small

Synthesis and Interfacial Behavior of Mixed Potassium N‐Lauroyl/N‐Myristoyl Glycinate Surfactants With Varying Alkyl Chain Ratios

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biodegradable and low‐irritant amino acid–based surfactants have attracted considerable attention as environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional petroleum‐derived surfactants. In this study, a series of acyl amino acid surfactants with identical amino acid head groups but different alkyl chain lengths were synthesized via a modified ...
