Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

A Half-Discrete Hardy–Mulholland-Type Inequality Involving One Multiple Upper Limit Function and One Partial Sum

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, by using the techniques of real analysis, with the help of the Euler–Maclaurin summation formula, Abel’s summation by parts formula, and the differentiation mid-value theorem, we establish a half-discrete Hardy–Mulholland-type inequality ...

Designing spline broaches of optimal structure

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Methods of designing spline broaches of optimal structure according to smallest length of body are described. Multitude of broach designs may be explained by summation of geometric, structural and operating parameters of working and tail parts.

Theory of edge states based on the Hermiticity of tight-binding Hamiltonian operators

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
We develop a theory of edge states based on the Hermiticity of Hamiltonian operators for tight-binding models defined on lattices with boundaries. We describe Hamiltonians using shift operators which serve as differential operators in continuum theories.

Signal Processing Application Based on a Hybrid Wavelet Transform to Fault Detection and Identification in Power System

open access: yesInformation, 2023
The power system is one of the most susceptible systems to failures, which are most frequently caused by transmission line faults. Transmission line failures account for 85% of all power system malfunctions.

The Abel-Zeilberger Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We use both Abel's lemma on summation by parts and Zeilberger's algorithm to find recurrence relations for definite summations. The role of Abel's lemma can be extended to the case of linear difference operators with polynomial coefficients.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

An explicit Jacobian for Newton's method applied to nonlinear initial boundary value problems in summation-by-parts form

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
We derived an explicit form of the Jacobian for discrete approximations of a nonlinear initial boundary value problems (IBVPs) in matrix-vector form. The Jacobian is used in Newton's method to solve the corresponding nonlinear system of equations.

New, efficient, and accurate high order derivative and dissipation operators satisfying summation by parts, and applications in three-dimensional multi-block evolutions

open access: yes, 2005
We construct new, efficient, and accurate high-order finite differencing operators which satisfy summation by parts. Since these operators are not uniquely defined, we consider several optimization criteria: minimizing the bandwidth, the truncation error
