Structural and dynamic similarities of nanofibrils and microparticles of engineered spider silk proteins probed by solid‐state NMR spectroscopy

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Spider silks are proteinaceous fiber materials inspiring material design in various technical and biomedical fields due to their exceptional toughness, which exceeds that of most natural and artificial fibers. Solid‐state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has been used herein to obtain insights into the structure and dynamics of ...

Interactions of SUMO proteins

open access: yes, 2005
A large number of proteins have shown ability to bind to SUMO (Small Ubiquitin like Modifier) proteins through a short conserved motif called SIM (SUMO Interacting Motif). The work presented here shows that the different SUMO isoforms interact with the hydrophobic core of the SIM by forming an intermolecular b-sheet with the b2 strand of SUMO.

Modulation of succinyl‐CoA:3‐ketoacid CoA transferase activity by a single amino acid residue in acetate:succinate CoA transferase from Trypanosoma brucei, the causative agent of African sleeping sickness

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Trypanosomatids are protozoan parasites that remain a global health challenge due to the limited efficacy, safety, and durability of current treatments. Acetate: succinate CoA transferase (ASCT), together with succinyl‐CoA synthase (SCS), forms the ASCT/SCS cycle that fuels ATP production and generates acetate, a central metabolic intermediate

Mechanisms and functions of SUMOylation in health and disease: a review focusing on immune cells

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Science
SUMOylation, which is a type of post-translational modification that involves covalent conjugation of small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) proteins to target substrates, regulates various important molecular and cellular processes, including ...
