Magneto-static Modeling from Sunrise/IMaX: Application to an Active Region Observed with Sunrise II [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Magneto-static models may overcome some of the issues facing force-free magnetic field extrapolations. So far they have seen limited use and have faced problems when applied to quiet-Sun data. Here we present a first application to an active region.

Alpine ungulates adjust diel activity to the natural return of wolves amid anthropogenic pressures

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
As wolves recolonise their historical range across Europe, ungulates face predation once more – but in landscapes profoundly altered by human activity. This shift raises crucial questions about their capacity to express adaptive antipredator behaviours.

Neural Network Models for Solar Irradiance Forecasting in Polluted Areas: A Comparative Study

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Pollution‐aware hybrid ensemble model is proposed to forecast solar irradiance across eight diverse cities. The model integrates MLP, RNN, and NARX to handle varying atmospheric pollution levels. The model outperforms state‐of‐the‐art methods with enhanced accuracy and interpretability on standard solar irradiance data set.

Partial diallel to evaluate the combining ability for economically important traits of papaya Dialeto parcial para avaliar a capacidade combinatória de características de importância econômica do mamoeiro

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2006
The dependence of Brazil on imported improved papaya seeds was the main motivation for this research that primarily intended to evaluate the combining ability of eight genotypes from the 'Solo' group, crossed with eight genotypes from the 'Formosa' group

Hypergeometric representation of the two-loop equal mass sunrise diagram [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A recurrence relation between equal mass two-loop sunrise diagrams differing in dimensionality by 2 is derived and it's solution in terms of Gauss' 2F1 and Appell's F_2 hypergeometric functions is presented.

Sunrise or Sunset: Selective Comparison Learning for Subtle Attribute Recognition [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Machine Vision Conference, 2017
The difficulty of image recognition has gradually increased from general category recognition to fine-grained recognition and to the recognition of some subtle attributes such as temperature and geolocation.

Optimization and Assessment of Parabolic Trough Solar Power Plants in Arid Climates: A Case Study in Tunisia

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study aims to model a solar power plant (SPP) utilizing parabolic trough collectors (PTC) to fulfill the electricity needs in an arid zone of the southern of Tunisia. The research integrates both experimental and numerical approaches. A prototype of a PTC was first constructed and experimentally tested under arid climates. Subsequently, a

Comparison of solar photospheric bright points between SUNRISE observations and MHD simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Bright points (BPs) in the solar photosphere are radiative signatures of magnetic elements described by slender flux tubes located in the darker intergranular lanes.
