Prime editing in neuropsychiatric disorders: From mutation‐specific target selection to clinical translation

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
Abstract Prime editing, a novel clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)‐based technology, fuses a reverse transcriptase (RT) to an engineered CRISPR‐associated protein 9 (Cas9) and uses a prime editing guide RNA (pegRNA)‐encoded template.

Cosmic Rays and Sunspot Numbers [PDF]

open access: yes
In this activity students analyze and compare two or more graphs to determine if there is a correlation between sunspot number and the variation of cosmic ray flux. They discover that cosmic rays are very energetic particles, mostly protons and electrons,

The Effect of Sunspot Cycles on the Precipitation Over Iraq

open access: yesAl-Mustansiriyah Journal of Science, 2017
Continuous wavelet transformation (C.W.T) by MATLAB technique has been used to study the relations between the sunspot cycles (solar activity) with annual precipitation over Iraq (for about 10 cycles).

Diagnosing the 11‐year solar cycle's influence on the East Atlantic pattern

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
A previously unidentified solar‐cycle response in the East Atlantic pattern is found in late winter at lag +3 years with larger amplitude than the NAO response. A statistically significant NAO response to the solar cycle is seen in late winter at lag 0 years.

Cyclic sunspot activity during the first millennium CE as reconstructed from radiocarbon

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Solar activity, dominated by 11-year cyclic evolution, has been observed directly since 1610 CE. Indirect cosmogenic proxy data have been used to reconstruct solar activity for millennia prior to 1610.

REPORT ON RESULTS OF COSMIC-RAY OBSERVATIONS ON M/S "SOYA" DURING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER, 1959 TO APRIL, 1960

open access: yesAntarctic Record, 1961
The third latitude survey in cosmic-ray neutrons has been carried out along the same ship-route and by using the same apparatus as in the preceeding two surveys. Although the observation room was the same as that in the second survey, one additional room

Investigation of HZE particle fluxes as a space radiation hazard for future Mars missions

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Manned Mars missions planned in the near future of very low solar activity period and hence higher than acceptable radiation doses due mainly to the Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCR), would require special techniques and technological development for ...

The Functional Role and Molecular Characterization of the Therapeutic Target CLDN6 in Germ Cell Tumors

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The tight junction protein CLDN6 has been identified as a cancer‐associated cell surface marker that is rarely expressed in healthy tissues. In testicular germ cell tumors (GCT), CLDN6 is particularly detectable in seminomas, embryonal carcinomas, and choriocarcinomas.

Probable Values of Current Solar Cycle Peak

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy, 2012
An analysis of multiple linear regression method applied to solar cycles 4 to 23 using lagged values of smoothed monthly mean sunspot numbers as independent variables is presented.

Randomized, single‐centre, double‐blinded repeated dose investigation of safety and tolerability of ocular administrations of a novel silica eye drop product in healthy volunteers

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Managing ocular diseases often requires frequent eye drop administration, which can challenge patient compliance. A long‐acting eye drop technology using an amorphous synthetic silica composite was developed to address this. Our study aimed to assess the safety and tolerability of the Silica Eye Drop platform in healthy volunteers over
